Smith Optics was on hand and they were killing it. I couldn’t get far enough into the booth to grab a sneak peek of any of their black bag projects, but let me tell you, you are going to like them when they come out.

I am a big fan of Smith sunglasses. That is awesome they are getting into tactical eyewear.
They have been in tactical eyewear for a while now. Originally their Elite division they said was for Military/LE and Outdoorsmen/Shooters (don’t remember exactly how they worded it). When they opened their website I was their first customer to order a pair of sunglasses through their prescription program. I bought the hudson tacticals. They said at the moment they didn’t have military and civilian pricing set, so it was all the same. I picked smith, because I liked the look of them, and they were ballistic rated. Oakley’s RX program was just barely out of range of my prescription in the model I wanted. I use them for shooting, so when I decided I needed a pair in a different tint for use in different conditions, I called them to order another pair, to be told they were no longer selling Elite Division products to civilians, and there was no way I could get ballistically rated eyewear from Smith Optics without a Mil/LE ID. Granted you can still buy the non RX eyewear from places like Tactical Distributors and elsewhere, but basically being told they weren’t offering ballistic eyewear to civilians at all anymore was kind of frustrating.
Interestingly, Smith Optics sold ESS to Oakley several years ago.
Hi Justin, please contact us if you are still interested in getting RX Tactical eyewear, whoever told you that we don’t sell to civilians was mistaken. Please contact us, at elite@smithoptics.com and we will get you set up. Thanks for your support V/R
