SIG SAUER - Never Settle

Viper Headwear

Viper Headwear was founded by an Army SF veteran. Here, Viper introduces their new cap, the “Quiet Professional” – “A fitted MultiCam cap for Operators.”

Interestingly, the Quiet Professional is constructed from Cordura’s 50/50 Nylon/Cotton material which is a pretty lightweight fabric with No Melt No Drip properties. Natuarrly it’s Multicam and features a 2″x3″ Velcro loop on the front for rank insignia, flags, team/unit patches, or your favorite morale patch and 1″x4″ Velcro loop on the back for nametapes.

According to Viper, they also have Khaki, Digital Desert, and Digital Woodland patterns coming soon. Made in USA!

That looks like a nice hat, except for the rivet thing on the top.

  2. I see what you mean but... says:

    Amen

  3. Wow. Rivet on top. Big, formed structure for the cap.

Were they purposely trying to make sure this thing sucked for actual use, or did they see a bunch of “urban youth” wearing hats and say “that’d look great in multicam?”

All they needed to do was leave the “urban” sizing alone and add some hologram stickers to it, to make sure that it was ghetto.

    SERIOUSLY:

    Here is my hope:

If you own a company, and the majority of your staff has served in a war zone – keep making gear.

If you own a company, and you think that war is cool – for F*CK sake, stop trying to ride the “tactical bandwagon.”

There is too much crap out there right now, just like this piece of shit, that is absolutely worthless. Take one look at this piece of crap, and imagine wearing it under a helmet… Can you imagine the hot spotted headache you’d get?

At least, with my old HSGI cap, I could wear it under a helmet when I needed to, without a button on top diggin into my skull, and without an extra 1/2″ of shit above the brim, bunching up and causing more problems.

If this shit idea was conceived “by an Army SF vet…” then this must be the one coffee making motherfucker in the rear echelon.

I’ve already ordered one from Viper, received it, have been wearing it and I quickly sent them an e-mail describing what might be a little more desirable; i.e. velcro for glint tape instead of the button on top, a bigger piece of velcro to accommodate IR flags and other large patches in front, a lower “crown” or none at all, and a longer piece of velcro in back for regulation size name tapes instead of having to cut and re-sew a name tape to fit it. He said more velcro shouldn’t be a problem for future runs and that he’d talk to his manufacturer to come up with a mock version that is un-structured. While I too would prefer a unstructured hat, it is still quite comfortable and I prefer it over BPS’ flex-fit multicam ball cap. BPS’ crown is ridiculous, and the flex-fit material just chokes down on my head and the material seems to trap heat a lot easier than Vipers’. I just ordered a fitted cap from Grey Ghost and will see what that is like. It’s “low profile,” doesn’t have the button on top and seems to have enough velcro on front and back to support a IR flag and regulation nametape. It’s crazy, I can’t even count how many ball caps I’ve been through trying to find the “right” one for me.

Pffft…looks more like the “Quiet Trucker” hat. SF vet or not, he might be adept at sniping a target at 1,000 meters or blowing up an enemy camp with only a Zippo lighter, but that doesn’t always translate to competence at equipment design and manufacture.

  6. The above opinion does not reflect that of me or SniperCompany.com…

I will be smacking the snot out of my bro who was screwing around on my laptop last night, and will be taking the “autofill” info out of Google Chrome. Free babysitters: you get what you pay for.

Viper – I wholeheartedly apologize. Looks like a fine product. Moreover, vet owned small businesses, for the good of the country and the industry, NEED to be supported.

Did my old D.I. become a tactical equipment critic? Thanks for the input guys. It’s nice to see that people can be so passionate about headwear. I will take it as constructive criticism. Even if put in a harsh manner.

Witchdoctor: I will be e-mailing you later this week about some product testing if you think you might be up for it.

Shaggy: No apologies needed. Believe me, I’m thick-skinned. Great site by-the-way. I will have to add it to my favorites.

  8. Witchdoctor says:

Absolutely, Red, I’d be more than willing to help. I’m wearing your cap as I type this. It seems to be breaking in fine after playing out at the range, and camping out on the lake. Every company has to start somewhere and somehow. I’m sure all the other companies that got into the tactical design community had it’s share of haters in the beginning before they hit there stride. Hang tough!
