I prefer headlamps (especially those that allow the user to adjust not only the beam intensity, but the direction of the beam as well); it helps keep my hands free while working in low to no light conditions.
I had a nice Petzl but it got smashed between my helmet and roof of the 1151… Long story short, a good headlamp is versatile, I used to wear it around my neck and read Ops inside my top, had it tilted and attached to my pistol belt to highlight my det cord work area. Headlamp wins.
As a medic I prefer headlamps, leaves my hands free to look after the casualty.
If I have to pick one, headlamp. You can wear it, hold it or use it with a weapon.
THIS, headlamp
I’m a fan of handheld lights, especially my surefire outdoorsman. Great little guy I can take anywhere.
Gotta have one of each…but I really dislike being without a headlamp!
Headlamp!! Hands free. 🙂
headlamp if i am doing something with my hands or walking.
Headlamps for active pursuits. Handheld for detail work.
While they all have thier uses, if I had to pick one, I would chose a handheld. Headlamps have definitely saved my bacon a few times though.
Handheld 3 cell mag-lite. The one I’m using at work is 20 years old and still going strong.
Petzl makes a great headlamp. I’ve had mine for about 8 years now with no problems. Could definitely use an upgrade.
Headlamps are the best as they don’t make you give up one hand just for the sake of having light.
Headlamps for routine tasks.
Weaponlights for most all other pursuits.
If only 1 – handheld
I prefer a Headlamp for active pursuits a Hand held for detail work and a weapon mounted light for search and clear.
If there was only one option, I would take a handheld.
Hi,
I like all the types of lights you mentioned but it’s about the right tool for the job. But if I only had one it would be a hand held for the versatility.
Trevor
Handheld is my most used. Headlamps and helmet lights are under rated and very useful.
I never leave home without a small handheld. A headlamp is invaluable for most tasks, but all my weapons are lit as well. If I only had one option, a handheld would do.
Weapon light would be just right. Thanks and happy new year!
Headlamps for handsfree utility.
If I had to choose one. Of course weapon mounted cuz more than likely I have it attached to a weapon of some sort!
Rather have all three but in a pinch I’d go with headlamp.
I generally use a handheld Surefire G2L with a small Columbia as a backup. I’m always moving and can’t carry a gun where I work, so the handheld is generally my go-to.
For work, a handheld E1B is on my belt or in my suit pocket. For camping, I use a couple different headlamps.
Headlamp. Only way to preflight the aircraft at night!
I’ve generally just used my Surefire handheld, but I have an older weapon light that’s pretty nice too. I’ve been meaning to try a headlamp seriously, I had one at one time but never got to really try it out before the batteries burst inside of it and destroyed the whole thing.
When camping, I always have a good Petzal on my head, but on an everyday basis, with concealed carry I carry a quality handheld.
I would rather have a headlamp.
I prefer the headlamp, it allows me to be hands free and the band is usually stretchy enough to fit over my ACH Helmet.
I have a Surefire on my rifle, but the headlamp is what I usually use and keep in my EDC bag. It’s seen quite a bite more use recently as a few my kids’ Christmas gifts from their grandparents require assembly.
Surefire Scout on the long gun, Surefire E2L as a backup on my 1st line. And a Peltor Headlamp with a red filter on my ACH or around my neck for those map or intel checks.
Thank you for entering. Look for more opportunities.
