“SHOT Show? What’s That?”

Yeah, I know…who would utter such a blasphemy? Why, an Army KO, of course. Sure, it’s a paraphrase, but it covers the basic premise of the conversation. The fact that an Army contracting officer who works with Soldier Systems commodities doesn’t know about what has easily become the largest trade show of the year for our industry, is pretty indicative that the system is broken. See my article on the delay of the Army Camouflage Improvement Effort finalist announcement for further information.

Government must become a better partner with industry. For its own sake, if for no other reason.

Could it be becuase procurement people are hired simply for their “ability” to be pedantic bean-counters, nit-pickers and process-slaves rather than being solution-oriented, soldier-focussed, subject-matter experts?

    Just wondering…

Amen, brother… Just when I think I have heard or seen it all there is occasionally those moments when I hear or experience something so ridiculous it blows me away…. Hey Natick do yourself a big favor and get a clue!

I hear ya ODG – I’ve just heard so many stories lately of the box-ticking, stitch-counting, shade-Nazis generating waste, causing delays and grinding companies down over unimportant stuff that its really starting to get my righteous anger fired up.

Especially when people seem to think that an Air Force hangar decoration program running over by a BILLION or two is just par for the course…

    Speaking of the latter….
