This is the second of four articles sponsored by Arc’teryx LEAF to educate readers on softshell fabrics used in their garments. In the last article we covered Tweave, a product of Gehring Textiles. What better way to learn about how Arc’teryx combines world class design and materials like Tweave Durastretch and Durastretch LT than to actually wear them? So, this time we are going to give away a set of Sphinx Halfshell and Pant.
The Sphinx Halfshell combines both weights of Tweave Durastretch. It is an armor compatible design that features articulated arms with roll up sleeves that stow for a short-sleeve option. A mandarin collar and bicep pockets top this technical version of a combat shirt off. The Sphinx pant also features softshell construction and an articulated fit for comfort and mobility. These pants are designed to be worn over the top of hiking and mountaineering boots so they incorporate an internal gaiter. The Sphinx pant also includes a knife/tool loop as well as an ingenious reinforced knee construction with an internal pocket for hardshell kneepads which allows you to still use the kneepads’ straps for added stability.
For your chance to win, in the comments section of this posting on SSD, tell us what product you’d like to see Arc’teryx develop. Love the new Multicam and would like to see more development in the area of hot weather clothing
I would like to see some more tactical gear not just clothing.
I would like to see a lightweight reversible hardshell (top and bottom) with MultiCam on one side and snow camo on the reverse side.
That is all.
Thanks for the contest!
A better design for the Army ACU.
I would like to see the dear bird combine the knee-caps with the Spinx pants. Integrated knee-pads are way better than the strap-on kind, and IMO would be a outstanding.
I with E. Oniel. For LE, our dept can’t/wont pony up the dough for Berry Compliant gear. WTT is supposedly coming out with a LE line that will be more affordable. I HATE not keeping it all US made, but our budget is our budget.
Need heavy cold weather soft shell fleece for these Montana Winters.
Alpha LT Jacket in Wolf
Love the riggers belt and climbing harness I would love to see what solutions they could think of for battle belts and utility/ammo pouches.
I own some dead bird cold wx gear and I love it. I’d like to see some warm / hot wx gear.
I’d like to see a MC Alpha style combat anorak or a recce smock.
Talos in a color other than multicam…
They make great gear. I would like to see them take the challenge of constructing a LBE vest unique to them. One that harnesses their knowledge of materials and ergonomic design. Perhaps one that is tailored for combat climbers.
I bet Arcteryx would make a rocking smock! Lightweight, and smartly set up. Everthing Arcteryx does is smart and functional. Huge fan!
I would like to see pants made for concealed carry. I have never seen a pant that I have not had to change the design of to carry my weapon system. I would be more than happy to share my ideas.
a full sniper system would be great also ponchos made with multicam netting for quick a ghillie
How about a multicam tweave boonie hat. Everything Arcteryx designs is top of the line, I would love to see what they could do with a boonie.
Although i do agree with most of the posts; broadening of the range of garments offered such as more packs, boots, and a variety of other color offerings. I would also like to see more varied products, meaning a broader range of weights for garments, because different situations warrant different weights. And more lines of products that are designed for specific roles should be implemented.
However i feel that the LEAF line should stay geared totally tactical, and not tacticool. The products are designed for soldiers and police officers and should not be designed for civilian purposes using civilian colors, there is an entire other line for that.
I would like to see Arcteryx make some boonie hats. One for wet/cold climate, one for hot. It would be cool to see what innovation they could build in(roll down for back of neck, camo net mesh for face etc.).
Love your stuff, but would like to see more items in the Discreet/lowprofile area. Basically some of the great items you make now in earth tones. Also, some tough, durable everyday pants that wear like jeans but enough pockets to stow some EDC items but not scream tactical. Thanks for the chance to Win!
Warm weather gear, and maybe more Multicam options.
Work gloves! Something durable, waterproof, and not too bulky! Good for shooting or digging post holes!
I would like to see a hooded Bravo and Combat jacket.
I would love to see them make tactical gear designed for search and rescue that is affordable for volunteers, because it always seems like I have to buy mil-spec gear then modify it to make it work.
Would love to see more padded tactical gear and clothing with velcro for patches.
I know there are a handful of other companies that already make them, but a personal sleep/shelter system seems like something right up Arc’teryx’ alley. Something lightweight and minimalistic, maybe stowed in conjunction with a lightweight Arc’teryx pack?
Also, there may be a market for an emergency “outer layer” that doubles as a shelter/sleeping bag. Similar to the HPG Serape
Hooded Bravo jacket, hooded Drac jacket. combat smock.
I’d like to see more hot weather gear.
NEED THIS
I would like to see some Multicam Climbing gear, like repelling harneses.
I’d love to see light weight, durable, warm and cold weather offering for civilian outdoorsman. A lot of stuff that I’ve come across is un-necessarily heavy weight, or is too warm to use but for some months out of the year. It’s be nice to find something that can work in multiple climates without compromising effectiveness.
Love the new Arc’teryx stuff
I would also love to see a combat jacket all the goodies.
I’d like to see some more ultralight gear and definitely more affordable gear.
Would love a wide brimmed boonie made from soft shell material in multicam.
I could see them profitable using their stuff in the hunting industry, there are several companies I use like these guys for hunting stuff but in a good camo pattern would be nice, especially light weight rain gear
Warm weather gear
More awesomeness, simple. If that’s possible.
I would love to see some more done with accessories for hot and cold weather like shooting gloves and caps and even gators
Warm weather clothing would be nice, Would like to see this clothing system in green tiger camo
Metal buckles on the knee caps.
I think they could benefit from incorporating some type of insect repelent into their fabrics. Or just make a sweet PVC patch with their logo.
I’d really like to see a lightweight but very durable long sleeve combat top (camo) that has a sleeve roll up option and will be comfortable to wear in blistering heat (around 100 degrees). It would possibly use a fabric that cools you in the heat like under armour heatgear.
Maybe some zombie bullshit? Just kidding. I’d be interested in a belt with a Cobra buckle.
I would like to see more concealed carry clothing.
Bravo with a removable, or tuckable hood.
This would be sick to have
I don’t live in an arid environment so tan/earth doesn’t work for me. I’d love to see some more options in the gray like the naga. Possibly a subdued green? Thanks guys
Holy Shite! 643 entries! Nothing like a little freebie to bring out all the lurkers.
I’d like to see Arc’teryx make a man thong in multi-cam. Seriously, this would complete most poser’s ensembles.
Cheers!
A “low profile” pack that will hold a broken down M4 rifle.
I would love to see Arc’teryx start producing more entries with urban/civilian friendly colors, with a focus on every day ware.
