Unfortunate But Understandable News from Mayflower Regarding Baby Carriers

The Mayflower Baby Carrier design concept took the industry by storm just a month ago but unfortunately, real concerns over our overly litigious society shut the project down. Here is a statement from Mayflower regarding their decision.

Tactical Baby Carriers:

Due to very ambiguous US regulations governing anything to do with children and the high occurrence of frivolous law suits we have decided it’s not in out best interest to offer these for sale. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

    Government regulations at work again.

This is a shame. Regulation killing innovation and business for an American company. Meanwhile Chinese companies can make and sell garbage because you can’t sue the People’s Republic of China- only the fly-by-night importer that sells it.

Can I blame Mayflower’s owners for making this decision? No, certainly not in today’s business climate with any consumer products. It would be tough to put your business, house, and children’s future on the line hoping that some dumbass isn’t going to sue over jr. falling out of a baby carrier because they didn’t strap him in right or put it on right in the first place. The potential liability insurance costs must have been huge.

Mayflower makes great products and I am disappointed to not have the opportunity to buy this from them.

You know, if they just wanted to GIVE away the prototypes that would be OK right….

Well if you ever can go back into the business you know the demand is out there and we will all be back in line again in hopes of grabbing one before they are all gone ( I had planned on buying 3 of them). Best wishes on any issues this branching out endeavor may have caused

  6. Totally understand this. Lawyers will jump all over a fine product even if the parent was doing a handstand when the baby fell out.

Same problem we had when we introduced them to a manufacturer at 2011 SHOT. Sorry those guys went through all of that, I wish I would have seen the article to give them heads up.

It was a good idea. At least the Mayflower kids will ride in style. Anyone else ready for Tort reform?
