Awhile back SSD introduced you to Pivothead, manufacturers of eyewear embedded with cameras. Now, they’ve introduced a new version of the Recon model designed specifically for the tactical market.
Featuring full 1080P HD video collection, the Pivothead Recon comes with three sets of interchangeable lenses: shooting yellow, clear and grey. Prescription lens services and ANSI 87.1 rated lenses will be available this Fall. Additionally, they’re working on live, wireless streaming technology, which should be released in a few months, so keep an eye out for that as well.
The Recon is currently available in a matte black color with a universal camo pattern being launched later this month. Pivothead eyewear retails for $349.

Not even MIL-PRF-31013 and they want a frakkin $350 for it…
Hmm
conceptually I like it, Execution lacks in every way .. They look like a 5th grade CAD class project. I understand the desire to capture our most prized moments of catching the big fish stories in video to relive the moment with friends.. Same concept as gopro and that is everywhere.. Performance wise is scary Z80.3 lens credential is basically little to no protection. Might as well throw on my wifes designer glass lens frames. If these are targeted at a soldier based market they should at very least be ANSI Z87.1 if not milspec for ballistic impact.. Last I checked eyes are not replaceable and going into a harsh environment with substandard eye protection is asking for problem.. How ever for the DIY home porn industry this could be revolutionary!
The lenses are actually hydrophobic and Z87.1
It actually also has a curvature of 8 so it wraps around the head in a more comfortable way.
But take my claims with a grain of salt, I sell these things.
But here is the website if you want to actually look more at them.

Still pointless.
Anyone in the market for these will be looking for MIL-PRF-31013 as a basic requirement.
In addition, it being hydrophobic doesn’t impress anyone. My $40 ESS Crossbow’s are MIL-PRF-31013, scratch proof and fog-proof. In other words, I would be paying $310 dollars more for an inferior pair of eyewear and a poor quality 1080p camera frame that costs $50 shipped from China for the exact same frame.
No thanks. If they wanted to be competitive then they should have gone MIL-PRF-31013 and lowered the price to, at maximum, $125-$150.
