I took your suggestion and visited their site. I am retired military and currently LEO. I’ve been looking for a good plate carrier and armor combo and found one on their site for a truly fantastic price. I ordered Sunday afternoon and received an Email from them on Monday evening stating the item was out of stock, despite there being no indication on their site to that effect. I was told it would take at least 21 days to receive my order. I asked them to cancel the order. I then received another Email stating that the first Email was sent in error and my item had been shipped, despite never receiving shipping notification through UPS. Again I told them I wanted the order canceled. They then called me and told me the order had gone out, though no shipping notification had been received. I won’t do business with them again.
Did you receive the armor?
No, I canceled the transaction. It was, to say the least, a very weird experience. I was recently in an advanced SWAT school and one of the other students had on the PICO system and I was very impressed. This was a personal purchase to evaluate for a much larger buy for our agency. The customer service rep who I corresponded with via email, then on the phone stated that they’d gotten “a little click happy” in replying that there were no plate carriers in stock, even though it was not an automatic response email, but a typed correspondence from a particular person. It was reminiscent of a dealing many moons ago I’d had with Botach on an agency purchase where we tried to outfit our SWAT team with discontinued Blackwater vests. That was not fun. No worries, I ordered a Banshee plate carrier from SKD on your suggestion. Thank you for the great site. I hope my experience with Tyr was a fluke and not indicative of a systemic CS issue.
