The Merline Roll Up Packable Backpack from Tactical & Survival Specialties Inc is unlike anything I’ve seen in the tactical arena. Boasting a 1680 cu in load capacity it is very lightweight and rolls up into a small package when not in use and can be stowed in your other gear until needed.
Not only does it integrate a vertical daisy chain along the back to attach gear but it also incorporates an internal hydration bladder sleeve as well as a fully functional lid with zippered pocket and dual mesh water bottle pockets on either side at the hem.

Now you can pack a pack in your pack! 😉
That’s a clever idea that I wish I’d thought of.
Isnt there a folding Backpack called “Merlin” made by Maxpedition ? I like the TSSI Version more, but just a funny parallel…
Yeah, the Merlin is a simple backpack with hydration pocket that folds into a pouch. It’s basically their largest rollypoly, but instead of blowing out into a dump pouch it’s the simple backpack.
Different bags for different needs; I like the one I’m reading about here, maybe more excited about it than the Maxped version, but that might be because I don’t have it yet…
What’s the weight empty? What is the weight limit for it? I like the idea especially after years of having a assault pack with mission essential stuff shoved in the top of a ruck. Not a replacement but another option.
To answer your question Derek, weight is around 1 lb., we have loaded it with quite a bit of gear for testing, but as far as an actual limit I do not have that information.
