I first met Luci at the recent OR Winter Market when Brad Decker brought one to me to see. He showed it to me and my eyes lit up and my mind started racing. The possibilities are fantastic with this thing. Then, Brad tells me something even better. He is going to rep this line along with Wade Wittman and told me Mpowerd is going to launch an IR model.
So what’s Luci you ask? That’s easy, ‘Luci’ is an inflatable, water resistant bright LED solar lantern with three light settings — dim, bright and emergency flashing. Weighing in at a scant 3.8 oz, it has the added feature of being collapsible and portable, holding its charge for 3 months, making it maintenance-free and suitable for all weather conditions. The Luci Solar Lantern is designed and manufactured by MPowered, a Benefit Corporation, founded in 2012.

FOB and training range lights.
Better yet, Porta John lights!. No more s@@ting in the dark!
I can’t even get those little solar powered lawn lights to work for more than a year. Call me a skeptic that this will work much better over time.
Looks like it borrowed some ideas from luminAID, a product already available and being given around the world with the ‘get a light give a light’ thing they have going on. http://www.luminaidlab.com/
Ummm yeah. Guess I’m cynical. I see the hipsters trying to “help” energy deprived people. I simply see a marketing angle. What’s wrong with candles? Maybe that’s not point. Are they making it in oh say Haiti? I’d be cool with that- create jobs there? I emailed them and asked where its made – sigh – China. Whatever
I forget the name, but there was this one light that gains its energy from grvity pulling on a weight, which in turn works an electromagnetic component. It was more of a room lighting solution, but neat nonetheless.
This thing is made in China? Yeah, bunk.
