Moron Air Base? Really?
Yes, it’s in Moron Spain. Use long o’s
That’s all I got out of it this post too-
Hey, that’s in Spain!
Who is the genius who decided to name it “Moron Air Base” LOL. Im sure it was someones surname though. Easy to say they must have gotten picked on a lot growing up.
It’s just the name of the town. No relationship with morons.
M45a1? A1?!? They’ve upgraded it already?
The M45 is the designation for the Marine Corps 1911 modified by PWS armorers at Quantico for the MEU (SOC) teams. These 1911s were designated ‘M45s’ in 2008. Those pistols were built from an assortment of parts, using government frames, Springfield Armory slides, Bar-Sto barrels and a small parts from Ed Brown, Caspian, Cylinder & Slide, etc.
The Colt pistol is the replacement for the M45 and hence the M45A1 nomenclature.
the PWS armorers u mentioned, do they stand for Primary Weapon System?
Precision Weapons Section
The new gun is off the shelf.
Got to play with one a few months ago during an equine-canine exhibit at work.
It’s pretty nice- for a Series 80!!!!
“Special-Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force Crisis Response ground combat element”
I think that’s the longest unit name I’ve ever seen!
It’s apparently a new thing specifically stood up in the event of shit popping off in Northern Africa.
SPMAGTFCRGCE, makes sense…….
Every MAGTF has 4 elements:
C2 – Command & Control
GCE – Ground Combat Element
ACE – Aviation Combat Element
LCE – Logistics Combat Element
Its not so much a unit name as it is a category or descriptor of the various portions of a MAGTF.
“Crisis Response” defines the “special purpose” for what the MAGTF was created.
But its like having a Department of Redundency Department.
If I am correct didn’t Springfields offering fare better in the trials? They should have went with the Springfield either way.
