Magpul Is More Than The Pmag

The Pmag might have built the house of Magpul but they are so much more. Magpul is really a design house and I am regularly impressed with what I see from them including the item above.

One of the things that I think a lot of people don’t know, is that Magpul is heavily staffed by folks with backgrounds in the athletic apparel industry. For all intents and purposes, they are essentially Nike Tactical.

When you look at Magpul from this perspective, and you compare it to how Nike or Adidas or Reebok operate, the parallels are significant and basically 100% in alignment. Packaging, on-brand aesthetic of all the product, the “lifestyle” marketing materials, the heavy use of mass-scale production materials and techniques, the existence of mythical/special product to keep people interested and intrigued by the brand, the use of pro personalities for marketing.

Magpul is an inspiration to any small business. They built up the company on one santoprene dingus that replaced a workable and free solution to a very niche problem into a multi-million dollar enterprise over a few years. They have had very few miss-steps along the way. In short- they are the ideal of small-business success.

    • One of the reasons people don’t know that we are heavily staffed with people from the athletic apparel industry is is that we are not at all staffed with people from the athletic apparel industry. Otherwise an interesting post though, and thanks for the compliments!

If I put that atop a 72″ staff, and I am in the Map Room at the correct time of day, will it lead me to the ArK of the Covenant?

    That’s awesome.

    That Magpul emblem looks nice.

MagPul is a great company. But more importantly, what the hell is that thing in the picture????

Senatus Populusque MagPul, I likes 🙂

That emblem was used at the last SHOT show Crye Precision invite party. The theme was Roman Chariot races and that was the standard they entered the pits with. There was a red velvet banner with the Magpul logo hanging from it.

They do build some excellent products; but I feel there is way too much hype surrounding the company and the products. It always shocks me how people can worship a company, a brand or a name so blindly.. pretty rampant in this industry, and the arrogance to boot.

They did indeed build a better mouse trap for many weapon systems. The idea of improving an existing product to the extent that it is preffered by the masses goes to show that the world will be a path to your door. Add on top of that their execellent customer service and the result is that which you have above.

I’m not sure I get what you mean by “arrogance”. Arrogance about what? I’ve never had MP fail to field a question or other inquiry, and the people that are the “face” of the company have all been approachable and a pleasure to deal with. Would you please define what you mean for me?

I was really referring to the general arrogance found within the industry. I think you will find many people who have had a nightmare dealing with magpul..

I am a graphic designer and one of the things I do for inspiration is keep as much of their identity materials around as possible. Who ever is doing their identity design work is genius and I would love to work with them.

    Magpul has a senate?
