VIRB is Garmin’s latest product line, a series of mountable action cameras. They are capable of recording in true 1080p HD resolution at 30fps, which is processed through a 16 megapixel CMOS image processor. The 1.4″ Chroma display is full-color and lets you set up, preview, and playback video and switch between video and still photography. The on-board rechargeable 2000 mAh lithium-ion battery is capable of lasting up to 3 hours when recording in 1080p. It also features a high-sensitivity GPS, accelerometer, and barometric altimeter, and Wi-Fi connectivity; free mobile applications allows the VIRB to connect to and be controlled by both iPhone and Android devices. The VIRB product line will be available mid-September.

My main concern is can it compensate for a skewed camera, probably with software rotation as it doesn’t look like the lens element can move. This is the big thing the Contour series had going for it.
I’m looking forward to getting my hands on one and seeing if our customers will accept it as a Contour replacement.
Footage looks really magenta. Ugh.
Contour could film up to 60 fps too. I think in 720p, but still.
Anyone know what the housing options will be like? Ive been thru several outdoor cams due to failed housings. Lost a Contour to water exposure at 15 feet down and a Gopro housing cracked after a 10′ fall off a rock face.
