Orion’s Kin is an upcoming television program that “…will focus on applying core military tactics and modern military technologies to the unforgiving environments of the North American backcountry.” The program is headed by Adam Mattis, U.S. Army Veteran and outdoorsman/conservationist. The page also features a blog with frequent updates and a store featuring Orion’s Kin-themed apparel. Orion’s Kin is slated to start filming this Fall, and appear on television sometime next year.

Unless they were given permission, their logo is a blatant ripoff of the Mil-spec Monkey Spartan stencil design.
Update: I spoke with MSM via email and the logo was used WITHOUT permission.
Not cool, especially since “Orions’s Kin” is selling gear with the MSM created logo slapped on it.
Adam Mattis has been great about getting in touch with me to resolve this matter. Apparently a clip art site is to blame for the logo situation.
A little bit of investigation goes a long way, especially before you brand your entire company after it. Seems pretty interesting beyond that…
Bear set the bar pretty high, this guy will have to spend a lot of time sucking down rotten sheep’s eyes while naked in the snow before he will get his own brand of chinese survival knives.

I talked with The Monkey last night and it seems like this could be a blessing in disguise (those the clipart company who I bought the logo from may not feel the same way).
Looks like MSM and I may have a pretty cool partnership to discuss in the future .. stay tuned!
Timmay .. I was thinking more along the lines of gator blood than sheep’s eyes, but to each his own! No Chinese knives for this guy .. more about trying to give our friends in the mil industry a lifeline in the hunt space. It’ll be good stuff!
