Just a few months ago, Kinetic Development Group launched its company here on Soldier Systems Daily, with the promise to bring solutions to the small arms market existing with high quality firearms. They started with the FN SCAR as many SCARs are deployed with our Special Operations Forces. They also recognize the 16S and 17S are increasingly popular with American shooters and law enforcement.
Their first products, the MREX (modular rail extensions) for the front end of the SCAR has been very popular. The KDG front and rear sling points have also brought the SCAR into the year 2015 as far as QD sling solutions go. Well, they have just addressed another common complaint about SCAR. Some refer to it as the SCAR’s “UGG Boot” like stock system.

Form…. Why is this solution a near perfect marriage of a very well designed and reliable rifle and the excellent ergonomics of the Magpul ACR stock? It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to compare the two stocks and decided which is more robust. MagPul is famous for their reinforced polymers and most would argue nobody can beat them at their game. There are many empirical reports from the field complaining about broken SCAR stocks. To add to that strength is the KDG SAS coupling that is made of 6061 T6 aluminum billet that is black hard coat anodized. That not only reinforces the stock, but also the open rear end of the SCAR’s thin extruded U-shaped receiver. And to top it off, the KDG SAS assembled stock system weighs approx. ¼ pound less than the all polymer factory SCAR stock assembly!
Fit & Function… All SAS kits come standard with 7 positions of length adjustment, cheek weld height adjustment, an AMBI QD sling attachment point, a weatherproof battery compartment, and a side-folding feature. Like the factory stock, the weapon can be fired with the stock folded. KDG also added an optional set-screw to allow users the option to eliminate any play between the stock and receiver.
Aesthetics – Lets just say something about aesthetics here. The OEM SCAR stock appears to have been designed by the Zohan and is really pretty disco-disco compared to American tastes. So many people have told me they just can’t get over the Cosmonaut Boot. The KDG SAS stock gives your SCAR some American muscle car appeal that chicks dig.

Does FNF membership troll the errornet seeking SCAR related topics so they can insinuate their Sponsor God is the only one working the SCAR platform for aftermarket? The same Sponsor God who states emphatically that there is ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong with the platform, yet brings to bear products for it and has lackeys who claim robbery/theft/butthurt to any manufacturer who is bringing similar products to fruit. Here is the BIG goddamn fact in this response…Stryker hasn’t brought SHIT to fruit other than a charging handle. Everything else is a work in progress or excuse to customers on why the delivery date has been pushed multiple times…for the record, even stating a truth like “anodizing was backed up/late/lacking quality/etc – is still an excuse. FNForum, where moderation resembles Socialism and the membership (minus a few intellects) have more money than brains.

Looks gorgeous with the extended forend and PMAG and other tactical goodies, but at a certain point you have to realize that you are buying a 2400$ rifle and then adding several more thousand dollars worth of parts and other things.
With ARs, the theory is always “Build it, don’t buy it”, but this does not seem to be the case with SCARs. I guess people who can afford SCARs aren’t really concerned about such philosophical arguments.
Free states where a suppressor on a rifle with a folding stock is an option absolutely justifies the cabbage for a SCAR. I live in a state where neither is an option, yet my dealer sells SCARs as fast as he gets them–I stop in now and again to support brick and mortar dealers that sell parts for the DI midlengths it makes sense for me to build. So I agree 100% with 75% of your argument.
Also, I haven’t shot a .308 with a better weight/recoil management ratio than a SCAR Heavy.
Lastly, ‘Merica. The First Amendment allows the Kardashians, the Second allows SCARs.

Damn. Seems to be a lot of off topic going on here. Having a lot of time on the SCAR, I can say this thing looks like a huge solution to a huge deficiency. Kudos to KDG design team for solving a problem that actually exists and doing it with style. Hopefully USASOC and SOCOM will take notice and start buying these for the Mk17. Lord knows they could use them.
Oh, and yes: the girl is hot too.
So i know this is a somewhat older post but. Why is there such aftermarket support for the scar? Is it solely because the military uses the MK17 or is there really enough of them out there for it to be profitable to make extra items for the platform?
will this “fix” cause the weapon choke while in the collapsed and folded position?!
