ACT’s AVS-Ground Adapter (AVS-GA) is a system which turns AN/AVS and similar NVGs into a fully-functional standalone NVG for ground use. The AVS-GA replaces the standard ball point mount and adjustment axle, and includes an internal power supply and on/off switch. Different mounting platforms are currently and will soon be available including bayonet and dovetail.

Does it actually replace the ball detent mount, requiring disassembly, or does it fit around it? Either way, very cool.
Yes, you need to remove the ball mount assembly and replace it with the AVS GA. It requires only minor soldering. (two cables)
A detailed tutorial video is in the making.
Looks smooth. I like the skeletonized bridge.
I am very surprised there aren’t more names in the business as far as alternative dual tube NVG setups. It’s a fairly trivial matter to acquire two good tubes, and two sets of optics. The housings have always been the most expensive and limited resource. I really don’t think the manufacturing requirements are that extreme, although I am not in the business. There is no reason that a CNC plastic housing and rudimentary electronic controls should cost as much as they do.
I would drive myself into bankruptcy if I could get a pair of PVS-31s. I would be living on the street, but at least I would be able to see at night really well!
Where can I purchase the ground adaptor… I have a set that I have had since 2005 and would like the adaptor to add to my helmet
