Oregon Trail Defense’s Nub Mod is a drop-in replacement piece for Safariland ALS holsters. Made of machined aluminum, which is bead blasted and hard anodized, the Nub Mod offers a more ergonomic contact point for the thumb break lever. The Nub features a reverse angle which matches up with the pad of the user’s thumb, and a wider body which decreases the potential to miss the activation lever.

This should work on the Safariland 6354DO holster as well then, right?
the RMR-cut shouldn’t interfere with this from the looks of it…
To be honest I have tested it on many holsters/firearm types but I have not tested it on a Safariland 6354DO. It looks like it should work just fine given the position and such. Unless Safariland made the mold to vastly different specs it would fine. If not send it back and I’ll refund your money.

Is there any particular use case for this?
I honestly have never felt that the ALS needs to be longer. It is already one of the fastest retention systems I’ve used.
You could say the same thing for a larger bolt or slide release, extended mag release, charging handle extension, aftermarket bolt knob, scope cat-tail, etc…
The designer had part of his thumb shot off in the Battle of Fallujah. Not being able to consistently activate the ALS release, he made the Nub Mod to accommodate for his injury.
It just do happens to work great for fully fingered shooters too. I own one of the first Nub Mods and wouldn’t go back to the original ALS configuration.
PPGMD- I’ve heard this a lot. Once you try one I’m convinced you will never go back. I have taken mine off just to go back to the original and feel the difference. That is when I’m like, ‘wow, put that thing back on’.
The height is to make it meet up with your the pad of your thumb faster, but it’s not just that. The width is a huge factor. I run one of mine on a thigh rig with a quick detach mechanism from G Code. The additional standoff creates a big gap between my thigh and the release. Since I hike and work in the woods with it on, and am likely to have chainsaw bar oil, mud, snow, or whatever on my hand this makes it less likely for Sir Murphy to screw me.
Yes, the ALS is fast. But I like things as fast as possible and this does that and more.
Will this still work with the ALS holsters that have the SLS hood? I’m looking at it and not sure if there is enough clearance.
Chris- This will not work with the SLS hood.
A dedicated SLS model is a few months out. Need to adjust some clearances from the top and outside.
Pretty neat add-on. But I already have issues with my ALS releasing because the bottom of my vest hits the release while seated and moving around. If I didnt have that issue, I would get that for sure.
Is there any way that you can drop the holster a little? I had this issue when I first got my ALS setup and used their dropped duty loop which fixed the problem. I’d say try to drop the holster down, or push it away from the body a little more using a QLS or MLS setup. Or even just using spacers and longer hardware.
Put that holster on a mid ride UBL. Prollem solved.

actually looking at it more my concern is with the 1911 type of als holster that has a loop protecting the manual safety so ill have to get one and see
To clarify in case somebody does not check the site: the 1911 type holster will not work with the Nub Mod.
