MDM – Quantico Tactical / Pat-Down Props

Ran across this 16 piece kit in the Quantico Tactical booth. Pretty cool training aid that won’t give you a stick while conducting pat downs. Available through Quantico Tactical.

Are they cheaper than the blue and red guns that we train with? if not, what makes them a better product than what is currently out there?

    • ejb3 says:

I now see that they have more of a variety of things besides guns and knives. Still curious about price point, though.

    • SSD says:

Well for one thing, they’ve got things other than knives and guns and the knives and guns they do have are more like the ones you’ll actually encounter on the street than the ones that Police carry.

Do people getting FI’ed that carry knives often carry folding knives in the locked open position? Not trying to be snarky; it just seems very odd and I wondered how common it is.

    • Riceball says:

Well, I’ve been carrying a folding knife on me for a good number of years now and not once have I carried it on me with it open. That does seem to be a very odd thing to have but I suppose it’s so that they cover all of their bases, no matter how odd or unlikely.

Glue/tape a wad of tongue depressors together – instant knife, open or closed. Oh yeah, write “knife” on it and Sharpie part of one “edge” red. I checked this kit out and wanted to like them, but frankly, between blue guns, welded-up forfeited trash guns, my old wallets and cell phones, messed up keys from the hardware store, I couldn’t justify the cost.

Being a real prick, I had my optometrist save a bunch of old eyeglass lenses for me. Put in a pocket, collar or sock, or anywhere, you can really tell if a trainee is doing a good search. I also collected a shitload of those escort service cards that they force on you in Vegas for wallet contents and ID’s, but somebody called The Man and I had to quit that.
