SHOT Show – Crye Precision LVS

I’d like to close out our SHOT Show 2016 live coverage the same place we started, Crye Precision. During our overview at the beginning of the week I showed you the new LVS armor system. However, based on the comments I feel that further explanation was warranted.

This is LVS. There is a cover laminated directly to the armor. It can be worn this way directly against the skin for extreme low profile wear thanks to their Insert As Vest architecture. Both Caleb Crye and Gregg Thompson wore LVS this week during SHOT Show to demonstrate how unobtrusive the system is.

In particular, some commenters were concerned about sweat and how to clean the armor.

Above and below you see a covert carrier. LVS can be placed inside this, and other carriers, when needed. LVS can be removed for cleaning.

There are many carrier types available.

There’s even a tactical carrier which is what many are accustomed to.

While LVS has an integrated cover for low visibility wear, it can still be placed in a carrier when needed.

    Thanks for the extra coverage.

  2. Adam says:

Did they mentioned an approximate MSRP for this bad boy and maybe a release date?

  3. Bill says:

I’m guessing the MSRP will be Way Too Much for the average cop who has to buy their own gear, though I tend not to skimp on armor. I’m REALLY interested in how they expect the first set-up to be cleaned, I have to wash my carriers darn near daily in the summer, and definitely if I have to do any running or serious physical work.

    • Chances are it has been “beta’d” in some interesting “sweaty bullshit” environments. Those outer sleeves make cleaning look pretty painless.

I’m just a dirty mother fucker then. I never wash my carriers and I’m K9. This and the new safariland armor make my pants tight.

    • SSD says:

They don’t. It’s not meant to be worn that way day in and day out. It’s super low profile for times when you don’t want anyone to know you’re wearing armor, like on a CTR in an urban environment.

If you’re a sweat hog and considering wearing this every day, get a carrier. The first one shown doesn’t add much to the bulk.

What do you want them to sell this for? 50 bucks?

  4. SLG says:

I don’t comment here usually, but I’ve been wearing one for most of the last year. It is the best armor I have ever used. Cleaning is super simple. Most of the time, I just wipe it down with a wet wipe. Works great.

    • SSD says:

Are you using a carrier or just the base armor? Next to skin or over a t-shirt?

      • SLG says:

I either wear it concealed, over a t shirt and under a cover garment, or I wear it overtly, under the plate carrier. When I got my sample, they didn’t have the covers ready, so I have not tried one yet. The base armor is very easy to clean, and really doesn’t need a carrier for most applications, imo. I do look forward to trying one out though and seeing what it offers.

Hasn’t this concept been tried before?

Great review, can’t wait until this is available.
