Rare Sighting Of A Daniel Defense GL/SSC RIS II

This is one of the most rare Daniel Defense RIS II Rails, the GL/SSC. This stands for Grenade Launcher, Sound Suppressor Capable. It’s slightly shorter than the M4A1 and was designed around a 12.5″ barrel. Only 125 were made. 100 went to SOCOM and 25 sold commercially. So if you have one of these, you own a unicorn.

What does the sound suppressor capable refer to specifically? Clearance between end of rail and start of the FH?

    • tcba_joe says:

It’s for a 12.5″ barrel, which is the shortest capable of mounting a standard M203, while the rail is the longest possible while still being possible to mount the NT4.

    Gotcha

I had one but turned it into Gov. Brown for a $50.00 Safeway gift card on the gun buy back program.

Thats a unicorn for sure. Another good one is the Daniel defense HK416 rail. How many of those are out there?

  6. EnormousGreenRageMonster says:

So how do you identify this rail? Looks just like mine?
My rail is about 12.5″ and has 203 mounting capability…

It’s shorter than the M4A1 RIS but longer than the MK18 RIS. Those that have them know what they have; they weren’t just shot into the open market; it’s the DD connected people (like LAV and Stickman) who got them.

  7. Tim says:

Let’s be honest. RIS II rails are starting to become rare all around for the civilian market…

    • Craig says:

Why is that? I’ve got two and noticed they’re still selling them through their website.

No, it is not one of your Christmas presents.
