If it’s stupid but it works……
Prior to the invasion of Haiti, the 82nd was set to jump into a field. Turns out, it was a cane field that had just been harvested. The effect was similar to what you see above, except with more spikes, lots more.
The Medics had that specific DZ.

There was a submarine shelter in Porto Palermo in Albania (https://www.google.pl/maps/@40.0693575,19.78746,2385m/data=!3m1!1e3). Surrounding hills were planted with agaves, to prevent airborne assault. You can spot the agaves at the Google Maps 🙂
I think anyone who’s even done 1 jump and headed towards so much as a slightly hard patch of ground/mildly prickly bush on their last 20m of descent will be cringing right now.
