JP Enterprises Introduces MicroFit Takedown Pins for AR Rifles

Hugo, MN – JP Enterprises introduces the solution for poor-fitting AR-15 and AR-10 upper and lower receivers. Loose receivers especially are the bane of most AR builds. This loose receiver fit is annoying and cheapens your rifle but it also limits its accuracy potential. JP MicroFit™ takedown pins bring most receivers up to a rock-hard fit and can dramatically improve even the sloppiest receivers.

Although most poor fitting receivers are loose, some are too tight. Very tight receivers, such as post-Cerakote, can be remedied with the undersized pins.

MicroFit™ pins come in three sizes; mean, oversized and undersized for both the front and rear of the receivers. The mean pins match standard takedown pin sizes while the over- and undersized are offset slightly over .001 from that size. This small variation allows for the small slop or overly tight fit in receivers to be significantly improved. The pins allow for five unique fits, and the maximum loose and tight combinations will significantly change receiver fit.

“We’ve been fighting the issue of poor receiver fit for 20 years, which is when our original Tension Pin debuted,” stated JP Enterprises founder John Paul. “Ask any bolt gun shooter. They will tell you that a rifle loose in its stock will not reach its accuracy potential. An AR with a loose upper/lower is no different. The MircoFit™ pins require no modification to the receiver. They simply replace your current pins.”

MicroFit™ pins are bright polished to a near mirror black finish with a durable QPQ coating. This provides for an ultra-smooth finish and feel with the wear and corrosion resistance of JP’s bolt carriers. All pins feature a two-faceted punch or bullet capturing recess. This allows the user to apply force to the pins safely without risking scratching the receiver.

MicroFit™ pins will be sold as individual pins and as replacement sets. They will be standard on all JP rifles, ensuring a snug fit and pleasing aesthetics.

This is really facinating. Its a solution to the issue of AR loosness, unlike proucts like wedges that can actually create problems. Congrats to JP for this innovation.

Excuse my ignorance but what are the issues caused by the wedges? I was unaware there were any.

      • Tim L says:

The issue I’ve seen with the wedges is that some will deteriorate with use and start coming apart which could interfere with the trigger assembly.

Would these actually make a difference on paper? (Meaning group size)

I can see in theory how a sloppy receiver fit could mess with your accuracy, but has anyone done any actual testing to prove it?

That’s going to be taken out of context in 3..2..1..

    Happiness is a tight one

It won’t make any difference in group size. In terms of group size, all the important bits are in the upper, and how it sits with the lower is largely unimportant. I’ve seen national match rifles shoot sub 1/2 moa with receiver slop that would make most people cringe.

That said, this was with a sling pulling the upper right enough that it couldn’t move around. As long as the important bits in the upper are pointed the right way, receiver slop won’t matter.

Stating that the pins will tighten up a group has been hotly debated on gun forums for over a decade. I have no doubt that JP makes a good product and that it will allow a builder or owner to fit pins that help the upper sit with little looseness on a lower, but –

Where are the targets to prove it?

Until then I can thank them for offering the pins for use with uppers and lowers that were never matched at the factory. Beyond that? A continued lack of demonstrating that it can is what I’ve seen on forums.

Maybe this will get addressed and corrected finally.

Having built my fair share of AR’s, I could definitively say this is a solution to an annoyance. It’s all about fit and finish for the internet gun crowd. I have had some pretty sloppy guns shoot great and some excessively tight guns shoot just fine. TDP specs are loose and allow for wiggle room plus or minus. Then again, it may not be the dope on the gun, just the dope behind the gun…
