Is the video throwing anyone else off as to exactly how that optic mount works?
Nope – if you had a 10/22 Takedown, it would be obvious.
It attaches to the underside of the barrel, using the standard mounting position for the forestock (I’m assuming that there is a removable insert in the magpul stock) and then bridges over the barrel. It’s probably not the best way to mount a sight out there, but it’s not too bad either.
The optics mount replaces the locking block on the original takedown barrel. It does not ship with all of the internals, so you must cannibalize the internals from your donor locking block.
The optics mount uses the internals from the original locking block, they are not included with the optic mount, so you must cannibalize them, the optic mount then replaces the original locking block.
Thanks fellas,
Replacing the locking block made sense but the video magic made me believe something else was going on there.
Does anyone know which optic is being used in the video?
