Vans and Defcon Resurrect the Sk8-Hi Notchback Pro

Available May 27 at Select Retailers Globally

Cypress, CALIF. (May 23, 2017) – While DEFCON origins remain classified, the projects stamped with their namesake speak volumes. Vans reunites with the stealth collective this spring to resurrect the Vans Sk8-Hi Notchback Pro, engineered with three new Multicam® patterns, Arid™, Tropic™, and Black™, specifically designed to reduce the visual and near-Infrared signature of a person in three distinct environments. As an ode to past projects, the Vans DEFCON Multicam® capsule comes full circle, completing the footwear outfit with new apparel fabrics originally developed for the US Army and tactical law enforcement.

Available at select Vans Pro Skate retailers worldwide on May 27, the Vans Sk8-Hi Notchback Pro by DEFCON features:

• Premium Waterproof and Flame Retardant Wolverine Pig Suede®
• Water-Resistant treatment on uppers
• Multicam® Nylon textiles
• Dri-Lex™ moisture management linings throughout
• Gusseted tongue
• Military detailing from DEFCON identity to BDU specs
• Vans Ultracush HD footbeds w/ custom artwork
• Hesh Goat embossed heel stamp
• Durable reverse lug outsole and knurled texture foxing tape

DEFCON has evolved into a multifaceted study group responsible for the marketing and development of some of the leading brands in the tactical and streetwear worlds. Through both natural curiosity and fascination turned obsession, DEFCON has perfected their craft in media modifications, establishing their repute as a standalone brand.

The Vans by DEFCON limited-edition footwear and apparel capsule is available worldwide on May 27 at select Vans Pro Skate dealers. Visit Vans.com/skate to find authorized dealers near you.

    No MAS Grey???

    • tcba_joe says:

No kidding. I’d love some defcons, but I can’t bring myself to wear multicam shoes.

  2. TLH858 says:

    Oooo Multicam Black ^_^

  3. Dellis says:

Wore Vans ever since they were this tiny lil hole in the wall store in California. Today though not sure I could cause if I remember correctly they have little to no arch support.

We used to order them in all different colors, it got to be like your right shoe and left shoe didn’t even match!

    • straps says:

Vans now has like 3-4 lines. The “Authentic” has the lack of arch support you remember so fondly (“Dude, they’re for skating, not walking.”). The “Era” is actually quite comfy.

I’m hoping these have removable insoles, which will be replaced with some SuperFeet Blacks…

  4. Norbis says:

    Any regular multicam???

  5. michael says:

unfortunately no stores outside US are listed… so they will appear in good old europe only on ebay for >250$$$ 🙁

    • inside man says:

Not true, available in selected locations throughout Europe and Asia. Civilist and supreme to name a few. Most shops, including the US sell online. Check Vans Europe for more info.

  6. Patrick says:

Are there going to be any websites carrying these, or strictly in store?

    • Jeff S says:

I bought the MAS Grey online from Uprise Skate Shop in 2014. There were only one or two Pro Skate locations in NoVA and I didn’t want to go running around so I just ordered online.

      • Patrick says:

Thanks man. I hope I can find them online, cause I am no where near any of the places that are selling them.

  7. Mike says:

Where can I purchase these Defcon tshirts

  8. Non-operator says:

I have a shop local to me that I went and talked to about these. The numbers each store is receiving is anemic, shall we say, low double digits of each color. And not in every size. Godspeed to everyone trying to get them, because it will be most difficult.

  9. Nathan Cain says:

Did anyone score a pair? The resale market is already hosting bloated prices the same day they debuted.

    • P.J. says:

They were on eBay for $300 a pair Friday night, so before release. Betting those were employees.

I’d love a pair in Tropic but I don’t live anywhere near a retailer and the ones I saw selling online were doing in store only at least today.

      • Nathan Cain says:

True. I thought I had a smurf who was going to hit up a Tampa shop for some tans for me, but by the time he got there the line was 40 deep and not all of them got a pair. Limited run to be sure. Maybe in another 3 years?

        • P.J. says:

If you only want to sell a few hundred why not jack up the price and sell on your own site? You’d at least get all the money that way. Setting the sales up this way really benefits scalpers.

    • Non-operator says:

I got a pair in Black and two t-shirts. The demand in my town was small though, 3 people including myself waiting at opening time, and the owner gave in-store priority over online.

  10. Matt says:

I tried grabbing a pair of the Tropics in the UK; literally every skate store had sold out of them by 1030; most stores opened at 1000 on the 27th, so either pre-orders or I just wasn’t quite fast enough!
