For those on Facebook, the WW2 Colourised Photos page has had some great photos and stories of Operation Market Garden today.

On the afternoon of 17 September 1944, Lieutenant Joseph Enthammer, a Wehrmacht artillery officer based in Arnhem, gazed up to the clear skies, hardly believing what he saw – White ‘snowflakes’ appeared to hang in the air. ‘That cannot be’ he thought. ‘It never snows in September!

Are they T-10’s in the first photo. I thought they were all retired?

Lots (actually most, if not all) of non-US Airborne still use round chutes for non-steerable static line ops. Market Garden Airborne Forces were American, British, and Polish. A quick google search shows the 2017 Commemoration had scheduled jumps by British Para’s and US 82nd, so I would guess those are Brit static line chutes. I believe they still use round chutes.
