Great photo. Why arnt the buzz guns loaded?
Have you ever been on an Army FOB or any FOB last 15yrs?
Ive never served so my knowledge of this stuff is limited
Inside the wire our weapons are cleared. On the chance someone decides to go all “blue on green” we’ll have a “Force Pro” rifle or pistol mag in a pants pocket.
Did you or any fellow soldiers ever carry concealed loaded pistols?
Shhh! Don’t ask anyone to incriminate themselves.
SHIT YEAH!!!!
I didn’t care what the Camp Victory (Iraq) rules were, I always had a ‘hot’ CCW on me no matter if it was to the PX or just out PTing outside our camp wire. That shit wasn’t Compton, and I’m certainly not putting my personal security in the hands of the BOS, not if I have anything to say about it.
And sorry, but mag in pocket, ya you’re going to die when the time comes! Seconds/fractions-of-a-second count… (Now, don’t go all nutball on me; I know it’s a one-in-a-million chance, but I refuse to be the ONE simply bc I didn’t want to carry weapon on me … I didn’t join UNICEF) Shit, if I had gone to Afghanistan, I wouldn’t have gone anywhere without my M4, let alone my Sig. Simply, the risk is higher, the chances of being ‘the one’ are increased.
Like reflective running vests, some rules are just made to be broken!
No worries, The “Big” Army really can’t afford to trust there own people. I had buddies that were on the NAVCENTs PSD for a certain Adm years back and they would always get hassled when they traveled to FOBs in Iraq and AFG for having loaded PDWs on his detail. They never exposed there secondary’s so they at least kept them ready.
Swedish m/45 ?
Whas that not only a sf thing back in the days ?
Looks like carl Gustavo sub machine gun. You could get them in 9mm and 45 acp.
Yep. I got back 5 months ago and the only time I had positive control of a weapon and it wasn’t loaded was when I was cleaning it.
Looks like a Vietnam era “Paladin” and Johnny Yuma.
As a Loggie this picture makes me twitch! Not 1, not 2, but THREE different types of ammo to manage!
“Hey – I need a reload!”
“Sure! Here’s some more .38.”
“Crap – no. I need .45. Gimme some rounds from your SMG.”
“Sorry – it takes 9mm.”
My Step-Dad served with the Air Commandos during the VN War. He was stationed at England AFB after wards. but served in the same unit as the two commandos who were int he Film The Green Berets in the Puff Aircraft. He often spoke of his time in the AC’s and loved every minute of it.
