So new it hasn’t been named yet, LRB’s take on the classic M1951 wool shirt features snap closure allowing this to be used as a jacket, a bunch of pockets both zippered and open, and some with hidden D-rings.

Looks great, its a potential future purchase, I love wool shirts and jackets
When I was issued a wool shirt at Campbell in 1986 I was like, “What!”
I couldn’t imagine the modern US military issuing Korean War vintage uniform shirts. I learned better but the “field shirt” as we used to call it was surprisingly warm and effective for cold and wet Kentucky/Tennessee winters.
Weighing their weight against their effectiveness they were a pretty good low tech solution.
The wool shirt is still one of my go-to cold weather layers. I have several. Wore one in Iraq under my uniform (it was completely invisible) and the ones I have were issued about 25 years ago and are still going strong.
I would like to go ahead and file in advance the obligatory whiny complaint about the outrageous cost of a wool shirt made in the USA!!!!!
The originals were a great piece of gear – in both Europe and Alaska. Still have one. I can easily see buying this.
I want one xxl as soon as it’s available thanks
