Rumor Mill – Glock G45 – The Black G19X

IMG_6231

With last year’s reveal of the G46 – a new rotating lug pistol design created specifically for a German Police solicitation, many of us were left wondering: “What about the G44 and G45?”. The G44 is still in the dark, but a leaked ad sheet has been making the rounds revealing the G45, and, somewhat surprisingly, it’s essentially the G19X, but in black.

The ad sheet, which is in German, claims that the G45 was designed for Military requirements, and, just like the G19X, features a G19-sized slide with a full, G17-sized grip. There are a couple of notable changes from the G19X design, however: the inclusion of front charging serrations on the slide (like the limited release ‘FS’ models) and a flared magwell that does away with the oft-criticized mag well cutout on the standard Gen5 models. This differs from the magwell of the G19X, which features a front flair which sits in front of the seated magazine, making it incompatible with the elongated Gen5 magazine floorplates. Aside from those changes, the G45 has all the standard Gen5 updates:

  • nDLC finish
  • Glock Marksman barrel
  • Ambi slide stop
  • Magazine w/ orange follower
  • Improved trigger mechanism
  • No finger grooves
  • We’re filing this one under ‘Rumor Mill’ because as real as this sheet looks, there doesn’t appear to be any official word on the G45 from Glock as of the time of posting. We’ll post an update if and when an official announcement is made.

No longer rumor, Glock issued these two press releases this morning:

    The Ultimate Service Pistol

GLOCK Introduces a New Addition to the Crossover Design

SMYRNA, Ga. – Sep 24, 2018 Today, GLOCK, Inc. announced a new addition to the 9X19 family of pistols featuring the latest in design and engineering seen in the 5th Generation of GLOCK pistols. The GLOCK 45 combines the fast handling of the GLOCK 19 compact-sized slide with the full-size frame as a compact Crossover.

Taking on the Crossover design of the GLOCK 19X and the superior GLOCK hard-surface finish in non-reflective black, the G45 makes the ultimate service pistol.

“After the release of the G19X, we saw a strong interest from the law enforcement community for the design in a black model,” said GLOCK, Inc. VP Josh Dorsey. “The G45 is the result of a design that meets the demanding level of reliability with distinctive Gen5 design enhancements to improve durability, accuracy and performance to those who go into harm’s way where fractions of a second matter.”

Engineered with the GLOCK perfection promise, the G45 features the Safe Action System® and is backed by torture-testing that has made GLOCK a name synonymous with innovation and reliability.

The G45 incorporates elements of the 5th Generation of GLOCK pistols including a smoother trigger pull, an enhanced frame texture for sure handling, a reversible magazine catch, ambidextrous slide stop lever, the Modular Backstrap System (MBS) for individual adjustability and the incredibly accurate, match-grade GLOCK Marksman Barrel (GMB). The G45 also features front serrations which are precision-milled forward of the ejection port on both sides.

The GLOCK Compact Crossover Pistol Model G45 will make its debut at The International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Conference and will be available on dealer shelves beginning October 5th.

    GLOCK 17 Gen5 MOS and GLOCK 19 Gen5 MOS

Take Aim with GLOCKs New Modular Optic Ready Pistols

SMYRNA, Ga. – Sep 24, 2018 GLOCK, Inc. expands the 5th Generation of GLOCK pistols with the addition of two modular optic ready platforms. The GLOCK 17 Gen5 MOS and GLOCK 19 Gen5 MOS come optic ready right from the factory and enable users to mount their preferred reflex sights to their pistol in order to improve their target acquisition.

The G17 Gen5 MOS and G19 Gen5 MOS complete the evolution of perfection for the 9X19 family of Gen5 pistols

“The MOS platform offers a convenient way for users to mount reflex sights without costly alterations to an original GLOCK slide,” said GLOCK, Inc. VP Josh Dorsey. “The resulting combination of optical sighting and the unparalleled accuracy and reliability of the new generation of GLOCK pistols set a new standard for this class of pistol.”

These Gen5 models are precision-machined to provide a mounting system for all popular optic sights. With multiple adapter plates, you can quickly and easily mount electronic sights to the rear of the slide. The Gen5 MOS family of pistols also feature front serrations for easier and quicker manipulations. This includes the addition of front serrations on the G34 Gen5 MOS which was first introduced to the market in January, 2018.

The G17 Gen5 MOS and the G19 Gen5 MOS will be available for purchase starting October 5th, 2018 at participating dealers.

    1. mark says:

      I’m just hoping the G44 ends up being a G43 with a 4″ barrel and 8rd magazine. Essentially, a single stack G19.

      • Kyle Kata says:

        Absolutely!

The only person I can imagine that doesn’t want a G43XL is Rob Pincus who is having the Slovenians build pretty much exactly that.

        • Stickman says:

I thought Pincus was just the talking head for that project, is he actually invested as part of the company? That pistol was announced so long ago that I figured it was vaporware.

          • Kyle Kata says:

He told me he was doing some endurance testing in Florida on them last week or so. So, I think they’re moving a long.

But yes, seems slow. But, probably right on time, it was 3D printed in SHOT 2016, and it seems like a small operation so that timing makes sense.

It has a couple choices I wouldn’t have made, it could still be vaporware, there will be few holster options, and as said Glock could shut it down instantly with a G43XL.

      • Mike Roneo says:

I agree. G19 single stack please. I don’t like using magazine extensions that don’t come configured from the factory. If Glock does a semi staggered magazine like the G43 it might be a 10 round magazine. There are plenty of ETS high capacity magazines that were made for the G43 that will fit the G19SS as well.

    2. Deutscher says:

Can SSD provide more information on the new Gen 5 models that surfaced on Academys site lately? There was a G17 and a G35 with FS, no cutout and as MOS models.

    3. CAP says:

      No frontstrap cutout?! Praise Gaston!!

I seriously hope they delete the cutout from all Gen5 models from now on.

    4. Steak TarTar says:

      “I have a Glock 45. No, it shoots 9mm.”

      • CAP says:

Even better than the Glock 22 that shoots .40, and the Glock 40 that’s a 10mm…

I think they’re just messing with us at this point.

    5. RockyMountain9 says:

Now with front slide serrations. Real earth-shattering stuff, Glock.

      • Deutscher says:

It is. The new gen 5 models are finally perfection. Everything people ever asked from glock and it didnt take them a decade to just get rid of the cutout.

    6. A Guest says:

I guess this confirms my suspicions that the 19X was probably referred to the Glock 44 internally.

As much as people like to poo poo the dimensions, I for one am a fan of the Glock 17 Commander.

      • James says:

I kinda doubt it, there have been other models with substantial changes that only recieve a letter designation. 20 and 21sf, 17L ,and, 19m for example.
