Gray Fox Strategic Inc -Nightcap

This is ingenious. Like many others, Gray Fox Strategic realized that the Surefire X300 Ultra won’t fit in the Safariland 6354DO holster due to its extra length. So, they decided to do something about it. Sure, many just cut a hole in the bottom of the holster, but the cap is there for a reason. It helps mitigate negligent light discharges, and protects the lens of the light.

Installation is a snap. Below, you can see the difference between the Gray Fox Strategic Nightcap and the original, which incorporates the star patterns.

What’s more, they offer multiple color options.

  1. Nice seeing a great idea from a Canadian company. Keep up the awesome work Gray Fox.

  2. Capt Obvious says:

Safariland already offers a replacement part for older holsters.

  3. Db says:

Hmm.. I run the same light/holster combo and don’t have that issue.

Same here. I run a 6354DO-83-701-MS19 (if I read the invoice right), works fine with an X300U-A on a comped Glock 19 and on a Glock 34.

That’s a small sample size of course, I wonder what platforms/combos need these?

    • Vic Toree says:

That was supposed to be in reply to Db’s comment, “Hmm.. I run the same light/holster combo and don’t have that issue.”

I failed at in-line replying, my bad.

Those combos with the X300U will fit the stock holster and end-cap but if you just lightly rested the gun in there, sometimes it doesn’t lock in without a slight push. Safariland actually makes an extended cap just like this in black but explaining what you need to them is a bit of a chore. These are cool though and moderately priced, and if you want a color/material matched option, here ya go.

        ^This.
Safariland will send you the replacement cap for free but you have to reach someone who works there who understands what you’re looking for..
