I think I like this a lot. I have a toddler now and have kept my AR locked, but not really accessible. My pistol is in a bedside safe, but this is a promising idea to bring the AR back out.

Seems like a quick-access “safe” would be a far better choice for a home defense AR than trying to fumble with a padlock attached to a loose rifle.

It is a good solution, especially when a safe in not practical (upstairs apartment, rental, RV, boat, etc). It can also be very fast with a little practice. It can be mounted to a wall (think walk in closet). Check out the website at http://www.scottlockusa.com

Looks legit to me. Seems like a no brainer to have my rifle inside my house, but safe from my kids messing with it, then take it out to the truck and know it will be safe from theft… all the while only needing a key or combo to have it ready to rock and roll in a few seconds. Might have to order one of these.

Here is another product of this category: https://arma15.com/

    Worth a look.

    • Scott says:

This works well but is not portable and the rifle is not “patrol ready.”

    • rick says:

definitely better for my use case because we just need it lockable in the house. and quite a bit less expensive as well. thx for the link.

Here is an earlier version from another company: http://www.mseworldwide.com/lifejacket/lj4.html Works great if you do not have optics on your rifle.

The earlier posted option seem to be very optic friendly.

I’ve done this in my truck for years but was required to use a carbinevwith a fixed front site post in order to have a place to run a solid cable through. Great job better the idea in a way that’s still just as simple

cool product. and this is important… all our rifles have BAD levers

“Rifles fitted with the aftermarket MAGPUL B.A.D. LEVER™ cannot be secured with the SCOTTLOCK™.”
