Whats the 411 with the TD pants? And anyone given any of the variants of the neptunes a shot?

Been wearing the Prana stuff for awhile. The fabric is starting to show wear and would rather support like minded people as much as I can.

    Hows the fit? Durability?

Yeah I’ve got a pair of the last version Neptunes. Good pants, dry quickly. My only real complaint is the cut. They fit like skinny jeans…way too tight in the ass and thigh area as compared to other brands. Exchanged mine for a size up thinking that would give me more room but that led to other issues with loosening the waist. Overall I give them a “Meh”.

I have had two pairs of their jeans, both of which had the rivet button fall off, I cannot say enough great things about the customer service they took care of me and eventually replaced the jeans with a pair of the Neptune pants.

The older model Neptune I have works for me, its comfy, works for the range, ok for casual office. The pockets on the old model are like an AR mag size that zips and they are fine. I do not think I have any issues with the Neptune fit. I have not worn them since its been cold in a few months, but I know they will be in my rotation once it warms up.

There are many options for tactical clothing etc these days, TD is one of them, and they have some of their own products. I look at this new model and see the vented crotch and back and think ok thats neat. I currently do not need any cargos so I wont get them, now.

JUSTIN, if you want to try a different pair of pants and put them in the rotation, this maybe a good fit for you. For a fact I can say the customer service people are rock stars.

I love the Neptune pants. I have the 2.1s in all four colors, and they’re my go-to pants for summer weather here in South Florida. I did have one issue with the mesh pocket lining not being sewn properly in one of my first pairs, resulting in a hole in the pocket, but TD replaced those pants with no drama. I like the somewhat slimmer construction, and I find the thigh pockets about perfect for what I like to carry (TQ and pocket IFAK) in cargo pockets on a daily basis.

Now, the Carlos Ray pants, while comfortable, have very shallow hip pockets, at least the 2.1 version. I cannot sit down with an iPhone XS Max in my hip pocket without it poking my in the pelvis. Most annoying. I wouldn’t buy another pair of those unless I knew they’d made the pockets deeper.

  2. I bought several pair of Carlos Rays for a visit to Gunsite a couple of years ago. It was my first experience with TD’s in-house clothing line. I liked how comfortable they we’re but you can tell the quality is consistent with the price. Lots of loose threads and sloppy stitching evident on the inside of the pants doesn’t inspire confidence but they did hold up during class and occasional use and multiple washings since.

My biggest issue was that the sizing was all over the map. I pants I purchased we’re all the exact same size according to the tag and they all fit different! Like the previous poster said, some fit like skinny jeans while others like normal pants and the length from pair to pair was slightly different also. I had to send one pair back because of that and the replacement still had the same issue. Very frustrating. I ended up giving away a couple of them and kept the one pair that fit me best.
