What’s Old Is Trendy Fashion – Landlord Mixed-Media Utility Vest

Hip Hop fashion brand Landlord has created this abomination, their “Mixed-Media Utility Vest”
Which is obviously based upon the US Issue Tactical Load Bearing Vest, originally designed in the 1980s.

Apparently, designer Ryohei Kawanishi had the idea to make a Beige/Burgundy/Teal version of the TLBV in Houndstooth weave Wool and Nylon mesh, set off with Gold-tone hardware. At least he went with the more modern Enhanced design with mesh panels. Imagine the heat from all of that Wool.

The Rear

Just in case you want to fit in at the next dance battle, you can get yours for just $600 from ever-so-trendy Barney’s.

I enjoy fashion quite a bit. I haven’t been as happy as the day I learned that 1017 Alyx or a similar brand knocked off a working dogs harness and put it on a person. For the cheap price of $800. No other segment of the textiles industry is this retarded.

what a load of shite. of all the pieces of gear to emulate

  4. David says:

You all laugh but how much you wanna bet the SEALS (or at least a few) will still try and wear it to look Gucci.

This is one fashion that needs….DESPERATELY….to die a hard death!!

I don’t understand the heartburn. At least its functional, unless its poorly made. Who cares more than just to roll your eyes about it? Or are we mad they stole something Natick did 40 years ago? Or worried we are gonna bump into someone wearing one while you are on the range?
    Seems harmless.

    I’m a trendsetter!! LMAO

  9. Iggy says:

No lamer than when tacticool companies hijack pointless ideas from other sectors and try to flog them as serious.

  10. Dave says:

Someone is going to show up to your mom’s house, wearing one of those. The pouches will be full of Bang energy drinks and rubbers.

Nothing wrong with a “happy” guy running around in their “happy” M-MUV (pronounced mmmm-ove). FWIW, I thought our issued ones were kinda ghey too. Seen too many pogues drumming up their fantasies of Sylvester Stallone.

  13. Chris says:

Does this count as cultural appropriation?

  14. Wolf says:

Although this looks pritty stupid, if this trend becomes more popular it could open up window for those who want to carry more equiptment and still remain fairly low key, so personally I’m not complaining.

  15. Kirk says:

It does put a whole new slant on that idea about the “shoot me first vest”, though…

In this case, you’d be doing the guy wearing it a favor, and putting him out of his fashion-enhanced misery.

  16. PTM says:

I think this might be one of the most horrible things I’ve ever seen on SSD.

  17. C. Myngs says:

I too like to leave my strap ends flapping about flamboyantly. Roll them up and tape them? How gauche.

  18. Pete says:

Soooo, scratching my head here. Honest question: What is the intended use of this thing? Is this supposed to just be a “stylish” item with lots of pockets? Or is there some kind of activity requiring this sort of thing that I’m simply not aware of? Genuinely confused if I’m missing something here.

Does it have a feature to hang yourself (by the neck) with?
