Now if they’d make their lights to support common batteries instead of their proprietary designs.

    • BFW says:

The reason their lights are able to generate those levels of output is *because* of rechargeable cells like 18650’s and 18350’s. CR123A cells just cant handle that kind of draw. Modlite/Cloud/Arisaka/Malkoff/Surefire/Streamlight didn’t put 18650/18350 powered devices in their catalogs for nothing.Mind you, neither one of those cells is “proprietary” or exclusive to any one manufacturer.

I understand the appeal of disposables for the majority of the DOD. It’s easier to can your old batteries and slap a fresh set in, versus rotating cells off the charger and into service. But asking Modlite tor revert to “common batteries” (CR123A’s) is silly. Buy a Surefire Scout.

      • Yawnz says:

It isn’t silly at all as it only increases their market share. NOT using common batteries is simply a poor design choice that limits your customer base by restricting their logistic chain.

      • Yawnz says:

Mind you it IS proprietary because Modlite advocates for using only a single chemical mix of a certain battery type.

    • Joe_K says:

They already do. They sell a Dual Fuel Head, and you can buy single cell, (that’s 1x CR-123 for all the knuckle draggers), light body from Reptilia. If your ok with a larger light/need longer run times, just use the standard 2 cell Modlite bodies.
