GBRS Group Hydra Mount Overview

The new Hydra Mount from GBRS Group has certainly been the subject of a lot of discussion. To alleviate some of the questions, the guys have produced this video.

    I appreciate the guys coming out to go through and explain the reasoning and setup of the mount. There’s a lot of armchair “operators” out there who probably have something to say but, like any specialized item, if it’s not for you don’t use it.

    The biggest strengths of this mount (as they mentioned) are:
    1) free space on forward rail for proper grip (esp. with sbr/pdw/sub setups)
    and
    2) passive aiming at night through NODs

    Cons would be you either need an aimpoint-mounting footprint or mounting plate for other optics.

    This is a great concept, but the cost is $550! I’m all about quality stuff but >500 for a mount just seems a bit excessive.

    Stuff like Unity and other items on the market exist already to cover passive aiming through nods, what this item was designed to do was be a solution for systems (MCX for example) where the handguard didnt retain zero well enough for lasers.
