Colt SCW Side-Folding Stock for AR15/M4

For the first time ever, a true side folding stock for your AR15 engineered by Colt! The Colt SCW (Sub Compact Weapon) side folding stock is a complete conversion kit that utilizes a Colt designed sub-compact receiver extension, buffer and bolt carrier group that is capable of firing reliably in semi-auto and full-auto, even when folded. This stock system is ideal for operating in and around vehicles, or when extreme concealment is a necessity. The Colt SCW complete conversion kit was engineered and developed by Colt to military standards and is the only side folding system for AR15 type weapons platforms that has passed military testing standards. Compatible with all mil-spec AR15/M4 direct impingment weapon systems.

  1. Torch says:

$1300 is pretty steep though it encompasses the cost of the entire system. Not apples to apples, but I’d interested to see how this compares to the cost of the SIG system, which is probably not cross-compatible.

  2. Meat says:

My eyeballs got real wide on this one… considering the weapon itself costs about the same as the stock !! What ???? Gonna have to come WAY down in price for this to not seem like extreme price gouging by Colt.

  3. Doe says:

These kind of prices are how Colt lost the M4 contract to FN, AFAIK

  4. Jeff says:

$1300 ????? You people sre frikn NUTS !!! Polymer and steel…made by MACHINES..not hand made by any means… frikn RIDICULOUS

  5. Jeremy P says:

I get this is low volume and extremely proprietary, but damn, that price and the appearance of being designed in 1995 won’t be doing Colt any favors in moving this. What else is new I guess.

  6. Anonymous says:

    Holy crap this is hilarious!
There are collapsible stocks out there that are shorter and for ? the cost.
At this price, just get a SIG lol.

  7. AbnMedOps says:

Wonder how it compares to the LAW folder, in dimensions and weight?

    • Daniel says:

Two totally different items. The Colt SCW is a fully functioning stock design, the rifle functions normally just with a folding stock capability. The LAW folder is essentially a door hinge on the back of your rifle. You cant fire the weapon reliably with the stock folded, its more of a hobby built idea

      • Matthew says:

Law Tactical has a bolt carrier and buffer system that runs reliably, with the stock open or closed. Waaaay cheaper than Colt.

    • DSM says:

Concur with Daniel. Never understood the LAW folder because it puts the weapon into a unusable condition. This doesn’t. Not to mention it’s factory Colt, these will sell just fine.

If you’re an old guy like me you’ll remember the old ZM Weapons modification to the AR that deleted the need for the receiver extension entirely. He was the first, to my limited knowledge anyhow, that put a true folding stock on an AR. The shortened Colt carrier here reminds me of the ZM style but of course it used a hella long carrier key.

  8. Archangel says:

Interesting that the two reviews on the AU site date back to 2017. How long have these been on the market?

  9. Mack Nickleson says:

I think it was SIG not FN

  10. King Cobra says:

Honestly hate it. Think about how far that “sub compact buffer tube” is going to be hanging off the back of the gun even when folded. That’s probably why they didn’t include a picture of it on a gun. The standard AR15 receiver just isn’t a good platform for a folding stock. By the time you get this stock you could have just got a Scar or Bren where a folding stock wasn’t a 50+ year afterthought.

  11. Mack says:

So we going to act like dead foot arms doesn’t exist?

    • PB says:

I’d rather pay 2-3x as much for something that is uglier and extends to the rear more, thank you very much.

  12. Cody says:

You can build a full fm-15 with some upgrades to boot for the price of this. And the FM-15 folds without a bulky overhang hindering it.
Not to mention the rear charging handing is not ideal for a folder

  13. Drp says:

Everyone else is saying the same thing as this guy. Do you just enjoy being a jackass?

  14. SSD says:

I’d like to thank everyone for telling us that they aren’t the customer. Guess what…NOBODY cares. There aren’t a lot of these and they’ll be gobbled up by guys who can afford them.

    • PN says:

I can afford it. The fact remains that it is ridiculously overpriced for what it is. It’s worth half of what it costs. You can’t sugar coat that by saying we’re just not the customers.

Really, the only customers are going to be niche cloners. And Colt/AU are trying to cash in on cloner inflation by charging second hand rate-clone-part prices directly from the 1st hand sales. There’s no sugar coating this. It’s a money grab. But I get it, you’re getting paid to advertise it as a news/product alert blurb.

      • SSD says:

First off, I had to approve your comment which means you are trying to have more than one accounts on here which is a no-no as it is indicative of unacceptable behavior.

The only reason I approved it was to laugh at your ridiculous assertion that I get paid to share this stuff with you.

I get paid by advertisers. Neither Colt nor AU are advertisers. I didn’t make a cent dealing with the whining of the “I can’t afford it so it sucks” crowd.

There’s nothing more pathetic in the world than a little man who makes false claims against another.

  15. Daniel says:

You could come live in Washington state where you can’t buy it if you wanted too.

  16. Jack says:

I like innovative new stuff. But don’t see why this would be chosen over the Q or Maxim stock that’s about the same length collapsed as this is folded and can retain the standard BCG at a fraction of the cost. If you’re going to start going with proprietary parts you might as well grab a BRN 180 or a MCX or any of the other AR18s out now.
