Envision Technology, a manufacturer of state-of-the-art EO/IR technologies for the military, law enforcement and commercial markets, has entered full-rate production of the newest addition to the Envision product portfolio, the Miniature Advanced Rangefinder System (MARS).
Building off the success of Envision’s MARS-L system, which was introduced in 2022, MARS expands on this capability by including Near Infrared (NIR) aiming and illumination lasers in the same size package as the MARS-L. This weapon-mounted laser rangefinder (WMLRF) is a game changer, and has been purpose-built for the operational end user, with a strong focus on reductions in Size, Weight and Power (SWaP) when compared to existing systems. The MARS achieves this while delivering required capability attributes, such as a long-range eye safe (1550nm) LRF, visible pointer, NIR pointer, NIR VCSEL Illuminator, on-board ballistic computer (Applied Ballistics), and a large OLED display to allow the user to navigate the simple and intuitive user interface.
The compact and lightweight design (< 8 ounces with battery), is feature-rich and minimizes impact on the host weapon system and operator load. MARS is capable of successfully ranging a man-sized target beyond 1500 meters
(Man-size 10% reflective) and offers the user additional rangefinding modes for specific mission scenarios. The integrated Bluetooth module allows the user to interface with external devices such as a Kestrel weather meter. MARS is also compliant with Modular Sniper Display (MSD) ICD Rev. B and Rev. D to support exporting ballistics to an MSD scope or compatible thermal weapon sight.
“As an American manufacturer and small business, we are proud to deliver MARS systems to the men and women who continue to put themselves in harm’s way to protect our freedoms” states Envision’s Head of Business Development and Sales, Mike Cassidy.
