The cover could also act like the corrugations or bars found on some Renaissance Italian bucklers, trapping or slowing a glancing thrust.

A gun works even better to defend against knives….but by all means go get into a medieval style fight with someone.

Welcome to Europe where you can’t carry a gun.

Depends on where you live in Europe. There are places such as the Czech Republic, Finland and the Baltic countries where owning a rifle an automatic or concealed carry are perfectly legal!! Firearms should be the last line of defence. not the first

It looks to be marketed about half-and-half for personal self defense and LE usage.

I agree that everyone, particularly cops, needs to use firearms to defend against edged weapons.

But European LE has some odd ideas about things that US cops would promptly shoot people over and they are reluctant to shoot in similar scenarios. American cops also used to die at much higher rates from edged weapons and blunt objects; now it’s relatively rare because of training advances in the 1970s. American cops shoot in edged weapon and blunt object situations.

Then again, European cops will beat the heck out of someone in manners that would not be acceptable in the US.

I don’t see this shield gaining any traction in the US, but it is interesting to see how things are trending overseas. Particularly the dystopian aspects of citizens having to buy things like this because of the increase in knife attacks.

may an image of the Prophet on the shield will help get the point across.
