I have a question for everyone here, anybody who served/is serving actually been issued a watch, esp. these simpler “military/GI” watches? Every time I see one of these types of watches being advertised in a catalog as military issue I always wonder, just who are getting issued these watches, because, when I joined the Corps (granted as a Reservist) I was never issued a watch. I didn’t get one before, during, or anytime after boot camp and certainly didn’t get one once I joined my unit, of course, being a Reservist I might not have qualified for one and they only handed them out to active duty folk.

I only know of pilots and other aircrew being issued watches.

Back in the day, USMC officers used to get an issued watch, Val-Pac, and foot locker.

Although they may not be issued widely, watches like the Marathon TSAR are procured by the military. Where they go from there, I dunno.

Irish watch with Japanese movement… Interesting. I think it’s the same movement used in some Maratac watches.
