Agency Arms’ does appear to do a decent job with a Glock, but $2900 for an AR definitely puts them in the “boutique” category of AR manufacturers. That cost has to have something to do with all the “CLASSIFIED” components*…
*Just poking a bit of fun. Hopefully they’ll come up with something intuitive and it sales for a bit less than MSRP.
For $2900, it should have some sweet optics.
1. 14.5? 416 Stainless Lithium Isolated Barrel
Could someone explain what that means? I’m assuming the barrel isn’t made of Lithium and it seems too far from Steel to be an autocorrect error.
I was wondering the same thing, but google searches didn’t yield anything other than this SSD article and some material on the making of lithium batteries. It must be “CLASSIFIED.” Just kidding…
It must be an step in the electrolysis process when they’re making the steel? Maybe one of Agency team will stop by with the answer or SSD will know.
Well I can explain the 14.5, means it’s a 14.5 inch barrel with a permanently attach muzzle device, but I’m guessing that’s not the part you’re really asking about. As for the rest of it, my guess is that it’s 416 stainless steel with some kind of special hardening treatment that I’ve never heard of and can’t find with the google machine. The only thing I could find was about the use of lithium nitrate in concrete, but not steel. I’m sure we’ll know more as more comes out about the rifle.
#4 is used twice. (I know I know, I must be an evil troll for pointing this out.)
Looks like it will be a nice rifle in the end. Curious what the overall weight would be.
Best of luck on your new rifle.
Turning their attention to ARs now? Is that a wise business plan when then bubble has already burst?
I’m assuming that these will be predominately raceguns for competitors; I don’t see many cops, or actual agents or agencies racking these in cruisers. And yeah, what’s with the lithium? Will it spontaneously combust?
If you have to ask, you aint operator enough for it.
Lithium is used in lubricants and some vapour deposit coatings so some type of coating perhaps ???
Probably a thin layer of lithium, perhaps a film or a sleeve, over the barrel extensionmating surface.
The BCM KMR-13 Alpha rail is 13.4in “measured to the flare”.
