At the start of this 2015 Winter Season, San Francisco based specialty outdoor products company Prometheus Design Werx debuts their Invictus MILLE Edition coil sprung folding knife. Designed and produced for the (MILLE) Military and Law Enforcement user in mind, this folder’s blade is quickly deployed with only one hand via a GID inlaid push button and backed by a sliding safety to prevent accidental activation. This uncompromising build features a convex and fully contoured type III hard anodized, aerospace grade T6061 alloy handle precision milled on a multiaxis CNC, subdued deep ride pocket clip, handle fullers & jimping, grooved thumbramp, lanyard slots, and a high grade industrial tumbled finish on an all purpose 3.5” modified spear point 154CM blade. Produced entirely in the USA.

The Invictus MIL-LE Edition is the first production iteration of this signature, purpose driven, folding knife design from Prometheus Design Werx. The 1st production run is limited to 100 serial numbered pieces.

The Design and R&D Team at PDW states:

“The PDW Invictus MIL-LE Edition is our distinctive and iconic folding knife pattern produced with our Military and Law Enforcement customers specifically in mind. A superlative edged tool without compromise made for those who serve and protect.

Precision CNCed and ground in the USA, our Invictus folder design is an instantly recognizable aesthetic and styling, characteristic of a purpose driven, lifelong design direction, and ethos. This folder is inspired by and takes its design cues from the tried and trued millennia old spear point blade silhouettes, to the tapered capsule shapes of streamlined arcs of aerospace, and the purposeful fluting and texturing of the modern machine age as found in high grade tools to precision barrels. This MIL-LE Edition has a fast, powerful coil spring for rapid one-handed blade deployment when seconds count. This folder is a high standard automatic for users that need speed and accessibility when on patrol and on duty. This is one of the finest production automatic folders currently made in the USA.”

The Invictus MIL-LE Edition will be available to purchase by qualifying personnel today via their website, prometheusdesignwerx.com.

What makes this knife more suitable for LE/MIL?

At the risk of sounding like a dick (I gotta admit it comes naturally)…… I am aware of the uncomfortable past PDW and TAD share. I know folks who work for both companies (and they are great).

However this is just an automatic nock-off of the TAD Dauntless. http://store.tripleaughtdesign.com/Dauntless-MK4-G10

I’m sure it is a great knife, and I know there is a ton of intellectual property that sprouted away from TAD. I get it… But come up with something new…

    • Kerbert says:

Mr Ma ran out of new ideas when he left TAD. Most of the PDW stuff is rehashed TAD designs. Pants, knives and even patches. I wouldn’t be surprised if he still uses the same sub contractors to make all the stuff.

      • Rodriguez says:

        Let’s be fair here:

Is there anything substantially new or innovative came out of TAD since Mr. Ma left TAD in 2013?

Boxer brief? Designer jeans!? ‘come on. TAD is still milking his old design without any major modification – that should tell you something…

Prometheus Design Werx is only a year old, and product development takes months and years. You know it. I know it.

        Don’t be a hater.

    Well that was quick…Sold Out.

This is one of the many reasons I gave up on TAD. Something cool would come out and it would be snapped up in seconds. Oh well can always buy it eBay for an extra 20%!
