I have been waiting for this. Finally, someone has introduced the new ACU cut in the MultiCam camouflage pattern. As you know, the Army’s Operational Camouflage Pattern, popularly referred to as Scorpion is restricted to military sales only, while MultiCam is commercially available. But even more important, by the Army’s own patent, we know that MultiCam outperforms OCP.
Available exclusively at TacticalGear.com, the new ACU features all the updates made during the 2015 reinvention, including replacing hook-and-loop pockets with more discreet closures and a roomier upper-sleeve pocket.

But probably not authorized for wear. I actually prefer the velcro shoulder pocket to the reverse new zipper one.
Agreed, the extra roominess of the sleeves and the addition of a zipper makes it so you have to grab your cuff at times in order to get the traction needed to pull down the zipper.
Wondering if it’ll be authorized for wear as well. We haven’t heard much from the brass, particularly from the G1 on the wording choice to change mc back to OEF-CP, since the announcement over a year ago. Also no word on how the eventual replacement in From MC to Scorpion for OCIE and FR uniforms is progressing. I see a few people every now and again wearing commercial tru spec and proper MC uniforms, properly configured with rank and sew on badges etc, in the 50/50 NYCO, and wonder if they’re authorized to wear it, but keep it to myself, since I don’t really care if it isn’t. It looks just fine.
Also agree with the shoulder pocket layout of the original ACU. I liked it better and always thought that simply adding a button fastener would be optimal. I understand the issues with buttons getting stuck on folliage and camo netting and the like, but the flap could’ve easily been extended or reconfigured in some way to mitigate stuff like that from happening
Probably mot authorized but I’m willing to give it a shot.
That collar design is MUCH better. But on the other hand, is it just me, or does it look like the chest and upper arm pockets are bigger than on the old model?
The tops are generally roomier than the ACU and the OCP-ACU. Based on wearing the same sizes from the new one and the other two.
My FRACUs are more roomy than the new OCP-ACU. And they breath much better.
The FRACU in UCP, or OCP? The FRACU in OCP is the same uniform as the OCP-ACU (they are all FR). Just seeking clarification, thanks.
OCP FRACU – issued for AFG use in 2013.. The new stuff I got at Drum the “scorpion” isn’t very breathable.
With ML tops my experience was opposite.
Gents,
To be 100% honest this uniform (army ocp, scorpion) f#%&ing sucks. I’m in SF and most of us were very disappointed. I wish they would’ve used the BDU cut (added pockets) and for the love of god make it have 4-way stretch. I think it looks and feels very odd wearing this new ocp. In addition, none of the sizing is correct. So come on guys lets get the uniform right eh? Suggestion, have Crye or Patagonia make a badass garrison/field uniform!
They already do. It’s issued through SPEARs…
I am 6’5″ 245, and I swim in the new OCP-ASU uniform. I’ve tried going down a size but the arms end up being way too tight . But I think the idea for this is so we can wear the ECWCS under it without looking like the stay-puft marshmallow man.
And as far as a crye or Patagonia uniform, that may work for y’all but I am not really interested in paying $100 for a blouse and $100 for trousers for garrison wear. I like the idea of a having a combat uniform and a garrison uniform.
So you can be in regs but not.
That was my first thought when i saw these. But i would gladly takes these over the new scorpion ones.
I’m still sitting here waiting for someone to make a multicam uniform in the MCCUU cut.
^this guy gets it!
Meh, whatever. I’m not a huge fan of these.
The zipper pocket kind of sucks. would rather have the old flap with a button instead of velcro.
The elbow pads going away was good, but the kneepads not so much – they are VERY rarely used, but nice to have when they are.
The new collar is nice.
The pen pocket still for office dweebs. That thing gets in the way of donning/doffing a ruck. I cut it out of my uniforms half the time.
The drawstring was stupid, I cut it out before, so whatever.
The cord and barrel locks were VERY useful for keeping stuff secure in your pockets during jumps though. So those going away sucks.
Now if somebody would just make a parallel pseudo-compliant uniform with sleeves more conducive to rolling…
The new pen pockets have actually caused me to lose pens because they are loose!
I’ve been woderin’ how long this would take to happen and I’m kinda glad about it. I was pleasantly surprised about the shoulder pockets and really like the collar. I never use the pen sleeves anyway- always kep ’em in the shoulders or notebook in the cargo pocket. Either way it beats the hell outta the old UCP.
