For the price I’ll stick with my Crye Precision Nightcap. That and the Nightcap seems to be more compact too.

That’s not exactly an apples-to-apples comparison, but we’re all excited to know your preference 😀

I’ve purchased just about every skull crusher variant as my work involves developing products that will attach to NVG mounts (and R&D doesn’t want to buy a ton of actual helmets). The Crye Nightcap is the one to get… just about everything else is over-complicated in such a way that it actually fits a more limited range of head sizes (and usually at 2-3x the price of the Nightcap.

The post below says this isn’t apples-to-apples, but I disagree – you’ve really got four options:

      1. Soft solution – skull-crusher variants including Nightcap
      2. Add-on solution – USGI helmet retrofit straps and NVG mount
      3. Bump helmet w/metal mount
      4. Ballistic helmet w/metal mount

I’ve left bump helmets with integral GoPro mounts off the list because mounting a $2500+ piece of a equipment on a plastic mount is just dumb… even the helmet manufacturer will tell you NOT to do this.

I forgot to mention – the Raptop model in this article looks like it’ll be a little less adjustable than the Nightcap, but will allow more gear to be mounted… hard to judge until I try it, but I’m not holding my breath that’ll it’ll be any better.

You will be surprised my friend. 179$ for The Raptor Sentinel (with counterweight pouch) vs Nightcap for 120$ (ounterweight pouch included) hmmm 1st think first, guys dont like Nightcap, 2nd go buy one from cry, good luck with that because your wait time will be endless LOL. Cutting baseball hat and making it as a NVG carrier for 120$ common. It should cost 10$ not 120$. With Raptor we have so many options where everything and more is out there already for extra 59$. I have one for SUT and its super comfortable and its one size fits all. Raptor guys are definitely something new that kicking ass now. I also have their belt ODIN mark 3 and dump pouch. So dude dont judge till you have it tested.

O P Tactical has NightCaps in stock FYI, and it definitely is a lot more than a ball cap in design. This one by Raptor looks to be innovative. Glad to see more designs out there.

Funny no one said anything about the OPs Core Skull Mounted system( formerly skull crusher) It is one of the best systems I have used and it seems that most of the other ones you have to pull all the straps super tight, with this one you dont. There is a lot more freedom of movement.

I’d like to see a rigid side system for the attachment of ear pro. I know Opscore makes something similar, but for the price I’d get a bump helmet instead.

I’ve used the night cap and was not impressed……it was flimsy and did not feel secure I Def would not trust my thousands of dollar worth of equipment to it. The Raptor is fully adjustable comfortable and worth the money.
