NRA-ILA Offering Free “I Stand with the NRA Foundation Sticker” for YETI Coolers at Annual Meeting

Don’t blow up your Yeti cooler. Don’t shoot your Yeti cooler full of holes.  Don’t chain your Yeti cooler to the back of your pick-up truck and drag it down the highway. Don’t glue a toilet seat to Yeti cooler. Don’t hang your Yeti cooler in a tree and beat it with a baseball bat.

Put a big “I STAND WITH THE NRA FOUNDATION” sticker on your YETI cooler and keep using it. They cost too much money to destroy to make a statement.  Let a sticker make your statement.

I just got a Yeti 75 for free. Bad timing, what with them sticking their foot in their mouth. But c’mon. It’s free…I’m keeping it.

People seem to forget there’s always two sides to the story:

    https://www.yeti.com/press/official-statement-from-yeti.html

“Austin, Texas (April 23, 2018) — A few weeks ago, YETI® notified the NRA Foundation, as well as a number of other organizations, that we were eliminating a group of outdated discounting programs. When we notified the NRA Foundation and the other organizations of this change, YETI explained that we were offering them an alternative customization program broadly available to consumers and organizations, including the NRA Foundation. These facts directly contradict the inaccurate statement the NRA-ILA distributed on April 20.

Further, the NRA-ILA stated in that same public communication that “[YETI has] declined to continue helping America’s young people enjoy outdoor recreational activities.” Nothing is further from the truth. YETI was founded more than 10 years ago with a passion for the outdoors, and over the course of our history we have actively and enthusiastically supported hunters, anglers and the broader outdoor community. We have been devoted to and will continue to directly support causes tied to our passion for the outdoors, including by working with many organizations that promote conservation and management of wildlife resources and habitat restoration. From our website to our film footage and from our social media posts to our ambassadors, YETI has always prominently featured hunters pursuing their passions. Moreover, YETI is unwavering in our belief in and commitment to the Constitution of the United States and its Second Amendment.”

You didn’t share BOTH of their statements, where they changed their tune significantly.

    • Tazman66gt says:

Yet, they make their position known by their last sentence, making it sound like the 2nd Amendment only covers and is about hunting.

This whole thing has been a he-said-she-said from the start. The NRA thrives when events like this happen so I would not at all be surprised if this is simply manufactured. Yeti has been standing for hunters and outdoorsmen since their inception so why the sudden change of heart? If they were folding due to pressure then why not make a more bold statement about ending their relationship?

It seems to me that the story coming out of Yeti’s camp is more likely. They state they are changing their policy for a discount, maybe the NRA doesn’t get any more free coolers for prizes, and the NRA uses that to create outrage that ends with more people financially supporting the NRA.

This “free sticker” thing is also a letter I got in the mail, which leads me to believe it’s a “cover your ass move”. They likely realize they can get into legal trouble for inciting this.

    • SSD says:

NRA paid for coolers. Yeti cancelled all of their cool riders and told them they wouldn’t be taking any more. Yeti wants it both ways. They want to distance themselves from the NRA to make their buddies on Wall Street feel better about their owners, but they still need the money spent by outdoorsmen.

  4. SShink says:

This is a case where buy USA makes sense…Pelican makes their coolers in the USA, they perform as well, pricing is attractive and they offer great pro-deals to industry. A large portion of their business is firearm cases, so it goes without saying that they’re pro 2A.

    • Dave says:

Pelican also has a lot of design features that are superior to Yeti such as the sloped interior so that water drains more easily…days after putting the ice in.
