This is a rare “camouflage” pattern indeed. Used exclusively by South Korea’s Capital Garrison Command (former name of the Capital Defense Command), it seems to have no practical purpose than to serve as a uniform.
Called the Yu-Shin bok (Revitalizing Reforms Uniform), it was worn up until 1981. The pattern appears to incorporate turtle shells which is significant considering the Geobukseon or Turtle Ships are recognized to be the first armored ships and were used by the Koreans to thwart Japanese attempts to conquer Korea in the late 16th century.

Spent 5min staring with mouth agape, soldier in pic 2 shot me dead.
Effectiveness confirmed.
Hahahaha!!
Best laugh I’ve had all day.
Definitely a very disorienting pattern.. North Korean spies would have a very hard time shooting one of these guys at point blank just because of how cluttered it is.
The camouflage pattern and the cut of the uniform make the guy in the first pic look like a Bond villain
Bond villian, yeah, Dr Dim Sum
And now we know where the inspiration for the the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles came from…
Better than ACU
In the voice of Darth Vader, “Ktyptek, I am your Father “
LMFAO thats great
“Japanedexarrempts”
…Are you ok? Did you have a stroke, tell me if you smell toast.
Wait, no, this has to be a distress code. Make a post about the Daewoo K11 if the Glorious Leader has you hostage.
I found out about a year ago that the “smelling toast” thing actually isn’t true. FAST is still your best bet for detecting a stroke, but smelling toast isn’t a reliable or even potentially a valid indicator.
That’s actually good information, thanks!
???
It’s an “elite troops”/propaganda uniform pattern from the Park Chung Hee days.
With Park assassinated in 1979, the turtle ship homage uniform rapidly disappeared with the “de Park-ing” of the ROK.
We need more videogames like Age of Empires II. I didn’t even have to read the part about the turtle ships to know that was what the uniform was representing and it is all thanks to a game that actually took the time to teach you something while you played.
They were having a special on Pyjama material by the yard
