Should have made it $2k so it would be allowed in the PRS Production Class.

Wow they screwed the pooch on this. Lets make a close to standard bolt gun give you not even half the modularity of a Ruger Precision but charge you $2200. Cool new cartridge developed with it? Nope , bread and butter offerings. Light weight or modular stock? Nope still weighs damn near 10lbs and looks like a MacMillan ripoff. Innovative action? Nope, not too far off a Savage or Ruger but i bet a replacement barrel is at least 6 bills +. I’d rather get a ruger and put the cash saved into an optic.

DD is relying pretty heavily on brand loyalty at this MSRP. I mean Tikka and Ruger are all smiles at that $1,000-$1,400 mark.

      • Dave says:

Yeah they priced themselves out of production class, which is a real bummer. It is indicative, however, of the target audience-folks who think snipers dress up like cinnamon bears, say things like, “send it,” and aren’t bound by programs of record. I’m basing this on the features, price and adverts.

        • Dave says:

All that to say that I was cautiously optimistic, but deep down new that I wasn’t the target market demographic all along.

    • Alpha2 says:

Yup. I would buy a Ruger and the rest saved would go towards an optic. DD fell asleep on this one, must be targeting the fan boys with that price.

  3. Fritzthedog says:

    Wow DD…..out of touch much?
Ruger will continue to eat your lunch…and everyone else’s.
There is absolutely no reason to charge this much for a bolt gun.
    You’re not that good….yet.

  4. Patrick Thibeault says:

I’m not seeing anything motivating me to purchase. Rifle grip looks awkward and uncomfortable. Not modular at all.

  5. tsh77769 says:

Maybe this is going to be the cornerstone of their whole new line since they don’t fully appreciate the 2nd amendment as evident by some Marty’s comments regarding the fix nics bill.

  6. Dogma says:

Nothing new from DD, 700 clone Acton with a twek or two like the Savage barrel nut to control head space. Copy cat stock sourced from somebody. Price point to high for what’s being delivered to consumers. Not sure who DD is targeting for new rifle, maybe police sales as they seem to be infatuated by companies like DD and have tax dollars to waste.

  7. Johnobody says:

I wasn’t paying attention during the Fix NICS bill. (Before you get snippy about it, CHEMOTHERAPY tends to take it out of you).

What was in the bill, and what were Marty’s comments? I have some catching up to do.

Who are that kidding with the photos, no one is going to pack that pig of a rifle into the back country for hunting. At that price a hunter could buy a nice light weight custom rifle and save their back. Also most back country hunters will be looking for a long action chambering in something more suitable for big game.

You got that right my friend. The Tikka T3 with a nice wood stock only runs $789 and with a leupold 4x 12 VI3 adds another $400 so you are right at $1200 for a 9.6 lbs rifle. Still a bit heavy than others but still a great choice in a long action. For big game in the mountains this is my pick as would be a Browning Medallion in a hunter wood platform. Just my options and I hunt with both.

DD’s products are overrated, based on my experience with there semi auto weapons. Daniel got in with the military with their only original product. From that point on the use of bought and paid for lobbyist secured business. A Daniel Defense rifle falls flat when compared to a Wilson Combat Rifle…Which will outshoot a DD rifle hands down. A Les Baer is another rifle that will put any DD product to shame both W.Combat & L.Baer are more accurate and more reliable than a DD rifle… Daniel copied a design Being worked on by Myself and with 2 small tweeks patiented my groups design and caught the Military at the perfect time when they we hungry for furniture to mount lights laser and optical products. Hey timing make the world go around. Daniels new bolt rifle is stupid high.. I can take a stock Titka rifle and add a Leupold, Zeiss, Vortex scope and still being the same price range as a new Delta Rifle alone. I can take a Remington 700 Action Blueprint it, add a single point cut Bartlein SS barrel, Timmey trigger any number of stocks Manners, or a masterpiece chassis and shoot the drawers off a Daniels Defense bolt rifle….MARTY…I challenge you “Mr. Daniels” too just that Ibring just what I mentioned and you bring any of your products we’ll shoot at 300 meters, 600 meters or 1000 meters you choose.
