At least he doesn’t have the SL wrapped around his arm or he did’t “hop” off the ramp and get wrapped around his leg!!! Ouch! 😉
Water jump. When you jump static and you’re headed toward water you’re taught to ditch your helmet. Water jumps usually don’t require a helmet so that if something does happen then they don’t have to retrieve it from the depths or fill out a the loss paperwork.
I’ve worn bump helmets.
Not always. Depends on the JM’s. For water drops I’ve had lax jm’s that let us wear PT’s and no lid then some that flipped the f out if we rolled out sleeves.
I did about a couple dozen water jumps in the 90s and not once wore a helmet.
Bump helmets make sense, hitting water at any significant velocity is as hard as dirt.
Definitely a water jump. You can see the B7 water wings on the waistline.
I probably have 5 or 6 water jumps and never wore any headgear.
I jumped a 60 without a helmet, but every time it was a standing exit, I had a bump helmet. In my day it was always a Pro-Tech.
Never worn one for our UH-60/CH-47 jumps into Sharkman DZ at Ft. Campbell either.

That was good. Keeps your hair dry too.
I see this only working on rotary wing water jumps or maybe a casa. I would not want to jump a door without something on my noggin.
Must be staff Sgt doesn’t need a helmet.

When I did a helocast with an SF unit none of us had helmets on.. but the real question is.. where is his PT belt?!?!
I never wore a helmet helocasting, or conducting Delta Queens.
We had a guy lose his helmet when he exited the aircraft. We had to search the DZ for hours. Nobody ever found it and he ended up having to pay up.
