The Army’s Promised “Ike”Jacket Is Happening

Recently, USAFRICOM released this photo of Commanding General, Gen. Stephen J. Townsend, U.S. Army, wearing a prototype Ike Jacket as part of the World War Two-inspired Army Green Service Uniform. The optional item has been promised since the AGSU’s adoption along with a “bomber jacket.”

Last week, I saw MG Anthony Potts, PEO Soldier wearing one at DSEi in London but his aide kept him moving when I attempted to ask him about the jacket.

It’s happening; helpfully we’ll know the timeline soon.

So, Miley has another costume for cosplay….

Great! Glad the US Army has everything under control.

Yup, because the guys relegated to working uniform issues would surely have been key problem solvers for any recent SNAFUs.

I may be the odd one out, but I would like to see the USAF adopt a blue shade of this and return to service dress for all but those who actually require daily wear of a utility uniform.

The USAF had one back in the original blues.

Let’s not and pretend we did. Doesn’t affect me due to job, but for the numerous Airmen in support capacities, it’s impractical and uncomfortable. It belongs at promotion ceremonies and special events where service distinction is a required formality.

Maybe Space Force can adopt an even-wilder uniform. The past, and the future. The wo places our military lives.

Since they can’t win in the present…

Glad to see we’re sticking to uniforms we actually won a war wearing.

Those look really cool. I like the throwback.

I also think these look really sharp. Since I am long retired what I think about what the active force wears doesn’t matter, nor should it. If the folks wearing are happy, I’m happy. I do think the went with a good looking and iconic uniform and then pick some really great optional items for it.

    Still a waste of money

I don’t get why I’ve been seeing so many officers from Airborne units wearing cunt caps instead of maroon berets in the new uniform.
