Magpul Announces DAKA GRID Organizer

It’s about time that Magpul took their DAKA technology and applied it to hard cases. The new GRID Organizer replaces the foam found in many cases with a highly customizable grid system with block insets to stabilize the contents.

Offered for the Pelican V800 and V730 cases.

This is a cool idea but suffers from two main drawbacks (IMO). (1) It’s visually very busy and not nearly as satisfying as a clean foam install. A bigger issue (again, IMO) is that the holes are just asking for little parts/pieces (like batteries) to drop in or for dirt to accumulate.

One way to rectify both issues would be to provide some kind of perforated fabric that you stick between each layer and then stick the blocks through like a Lite Brite paper.

Now do it for Pelican Storm cases – the only real Pelicans – and would get some. Additionaly, I prefer one big board, so I can stack 2 boards ontop of each other for 3 layers of gear, and not having multiple smaller ones which would only allow for 1 layer.

this is for walking from the parking lot to the bench, otherwise they wouldn’t have added weight to their kit for nothing

      • Naut says:

What non sens are you talking? Has nothing to do with the fact that one single piece of big board would allow to stack multiple boards ontop of each other in a case and fit more into it.

This is an awesome idea. Hope it does well and they expand the options for what cases they make them for.

  4. M&M says:

The blocks look too large in size, which actually limit the amount of potential setups you could do compared to the Pelican pluck n pick foam.

Fascinating concept. I really want to see it and see where it goes.

I agree with Jeff C. that it could use some tweaks.
