BCB International brought something so new it doesn’t even have a product name yet.
These illumination markers are meant as an alternative to disposable Chemlights. Available in Green, Red, Blue, White and IR, they can be turned on and off as needed and run for 36 hours. They’ve been tested down to -25 Deg C and the rep says you can get them wet.
This and other products shown at Rampart Range Day are available for unit and agency orders in Canada and the US through Rampart.
Is there a strobe setting?
Long time ago I’ve seen something similar. It was called AIMS if I recall correctly.
BriteStrike made APALS about ten years ago. LED and battery technology has advanced and I’d hope these are an improvement on the old gen options.
Might have been “Firefly”. It plugged onto a 9 volt battery, had different modes IIRC. It was written up in the old SWAT magazine in the 1980’s, and the reviewer really enthused about what he saw back then as potential for game-changing ability to track friendlies in the then-new and emerging NVG environment. I never saw Firefly mentioned again anywhere in the real world. Then in the 90’s someone tried to sell something similar in concept – they were little black plastic rounded squares with colored light dome on top and a plastic clip on the back. Had a flat battery inside. Rather fragile. I was given a handful at some tradeshow pre-9-11, can’t recall the product name or vendor, but like Firefly, never seen again.
You haven’t seen the “Firefly” around?
Do you mean the “IR Strobe NSN: 5855-01-396-8734” aka Phoenix “firefly” ?
Put your NODs on.
cool idea – are they individual colours or all-in-one?
