3D printed (b4c) ceramics exist
Continuous fiber placement exists
This could very well be a possibility in the future.
Yeah, neat idea. But what for in that form factor? Is it lighter that a laser cut carrier? Probably not. Is it more comfortable / customizable? Hell no. No way to attach a placard or radio wing, no way to route the wires… among others. Still, an interesting idea.
Is this another project by Oechsler? Same company that did the Osprey packs, Specialized bike seats and pretty much any other commercialized TPU printed lattice structure.
It’s cool, it’s pretty damned innovative, but I’d worry about the tear strength on the PALS grid when pouches snag.
Very cool concept… seems more likely to be a proof of concept for rapid fielding in a national-level SHTF scenario than as a replacement for traditionally fabricated kit.
I’d have reservations about durability of those attachment points in field conditions but I guess it would be preferable to having nothing.
